Connie that is a beauty of a dog wood.
Sara I knew the story about the tree and how it related to Christ on the cross. I don't know how it goes I would have to look it up.

This is the story I heard about the dog wood.

The Legend of the Dogwood

(author unknown)

In Jesus’ time,
the dogwood grew
to a stately size
and a lovely hue.

‘Twas strong and firm
it’s branches interwoven,
for the cross of Christ
its timbers were chosen.

Seeing the distress
at this use of their wood
Christ made a promise
which still holds good:

“Never again shall the dogwood grow
Large enough to be used so.

Slender and twisted it shall be
with blossoms like the cross for all to see.

As blood stains the petals marked in brown,
the blossom’s center wears a thorny crown.

All who see it will remember Me
crucified on a cross
from the dogwood tree.

Cherished and protected,
this tree shall be.
A reminder to all of my agony.”

Yes I do like it. JT and I were just talking about it on the way to services yesterday when we passed a couple of dogwoods.

Beautiful and sad. Dogwoods grow in East Texas.
Meet Cash! He has a new hat. His ears sun burn so Hadlee bought him a hat. He is a poodle/Chihuahua cross. His hair is so silky, soft, and curly. She was taking him for a walk.

Awwwwwwwwwwwww Marilyn he is so cute!!

Sara, I have that Dogwood Story painted on a Mini cedar chest. It's the same as the one Denise Posted. I have never seen one with sturdy branches that you could even climb.

Thanks Connie. My husband bought Cash for Had as a Christmas gift in 2017. She had asked for a dog of her own most of her life. Her mom always said ' no '...no dogs in the house...other than her own. But everyone loves her wee doggie now.

Oh my Marilyn, Cash is darling.

Sun is trying to break through and hope it does. Yesterday was perfect - sunny and warm with a cool breeze that blew at times from all 4 corners. Annie and I sat on the side porch twice. I had my iced water and from time to time she would beg for ice.

Winnie I read earlier where CrowFriend came back for seconds on peanuts. Boy does he have you trained. I know there are times Annie has trained me and not the other way around.

Marilyn, Cash looks so perfect in the new hat!! Maybe an Easter Bonnet of sorts??

Well, it is rain, rain , rain all day here. We need some rain as this is our dry time of year. It was close to 90 here yesterday which is frighteningly too much like summer!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful April Day! Sunny and 80 Degrees. Not a cloud in the Sky! The street that has been closed off for 3 weeks was open today! No 8 mile detour! I got to go my 2 lane scenic route past the Jones peach orchard and the Farm stand is open! I got see all the beautiful trees and flowers blooming. Here are 4 different Dogwoods. They are all at least 32 years old because that's how long I have driven past them once a week. Look how small the branches are on all of them according to the legend. I chatted with a neighbor who owns one of them and he knew the Legend well.

Sara, thanks. It soothes my frayed nerves somedays just to drive my little country road. Not hardly any traffic on weekday mornings.

Finished planting my last 2 pots. I saw this Tipsy pots online a few years ago. Perfect for a small space! You just hammer a 6 foot piece of rebar in the ground about 2 feet. Thread on your clay pots and plant!. The top pot of chives came back from last year!

I have that flower pot idea saved, too, Connie. Great selection of plants. It is very easy to put together. Yours looks great.

Connie, thanks for sharing that lovely drive showing the beautiful Dogwoods in full bloom!! Oh my, how this reminds me of my own home growing up. Dogwoods blooming, tulips and daffodils all remind me of Easter time. I miss that down here in Florida. We still have some Dogwoods, but many have died because we have grown more tropical. In 1984, when we purchased out home, we had 4 Dogwoods in our yard that all bloomed in Spring. One by one they died and we had to cut them down. I miss them so! Love your tipsy pot in the backyard!

When we moved here in 1992 there was a beautiful Mimosa tree in the front yard. Within three years a big wind broke off a big limb. By the tenth year the wind had finished it off. I was sad to see it go.
