Ruth I'm sorry you got a tummy bug. No fun!!!
Darlene, those wedding photos are pretty. Was the wedding at the bride's home?? Your twins are so cute, all dressed up for the wedding.

I like Chicos but mostly shop the sales. I DID need clothes for the cruise, though, so I think I did well. I love the tops I bought, and the jeans. They will also be great for the summer here in Texas. I usually take more tops than bottoms, and because I get free laundry, can wear multiple times.

Marilyn I'm a morning person - always have been. Sipping hot tea and playing on my laptop is how I start out my day. Annie's been out - back in and now on her first nap of the day. Enjoy your day - I hope to finish up my latest wool applique project - a bee skep.

Happy New Year's to everyone!! Like Sara, I love the possibilities of a clean slate to fill and January always has me dreaming and thinking about things I want to get to this coming year!!

Linda, have a wonderful cruise this coming week. It has been warm and humid here all week but I know you will get lots of beautiful weather down in the Caribbean! Can't wait to hear all about it.

Marilyn, your snowman tree is adorable!! If you have cold weather, January is perfect for enjoying snow firends in your home to make it feel festive and cozy.

Connie, prayers today with Rex's test. I hope all goes well and that he can finally get over this episode of Pancreatitis once and for all.

Darlene your photos of the wedding were beautiful! It all sounded like a wonderful gathering and a perfect way to ring in the New Year too!

This past weekend, I took down all of the Christmas decorations . My poor tree was dangerously dry and all the greenery in the house had turned brown. This past week has been very warm and humid and it felt more like early Spring. Normally, I keep my decorations up through Epiphany on January 6, but this year called for a revision of that plan!! LOL!!

Winnie, when my very dry tree we t outside it still had water in the stand??!!??
Sara I would love to see a photo of your bee skep when you finish it. I have been watching Quilt Roadies for several months. She does wool embroidery, too. She lives in Sisters, Oregon but she and her hubby just went to Arizona to escape the snow and winter. She does posts once or twice a week. I love the ones she does when she visits a quilt shop, etc.

Marilyn I don't post pictures. Maybe this year one of my nieces or nephews will be able to show me. The five year great-grand niece and nephews (triplets) could probably do it.

That's true, little ones catch on so quickly! It is automatic to them, or so it seems. Every time my husband messed his phone up, he must get Bad to fix it for him.
I have ribbed him a bit for not knowing how to type. He was among those guys who thought they were too cool to learn "sissy" stuff in high school. Now he struggles to operate his new Kindle Fire that I have him for Christmas.

My backyard and pasture are so waterlogged that there is a lot of standing water.

Linda, I've been checking radar since three am. You have had a lot of rain. But count your blessings that you have not been sitting at 31° like us.Wade will have to break ice on troughs tonight. We had rain falling, and coating fences, pipe, mail boxes, etc. With a coating of ice. We must have had sleet too because some of the ice is lumpy. The one good thing is that the highway was warm enough that it did not freeze last night or today...tonight may be a different story.

Thanks Sherry for the heads-up on my article. I flipped through the magazine when I got it today and read Winnie's fine article on her love of log cabins but missed mine. There's a picture of her log cabin wallpaper room.

Yes, Sara, I read your contribution today as well!! Your composting process sounds very simple and doable for anyone. Great ideas and thanks!!

Yes, my Log Cabin love showed up in the MJF Feb. issue. I am wondering if I will hear of any other "closet Log Cabin loving" Farmgirls?? I hope they will speak up and share what they love about this humble early American homestead. Maybe some even live in a log cabin?

Winnie, I really enjoyed your story about your new "happy place"! I completely agree that being a farmgirl is a condition of the heart. Sara, what a clever idea to compost in pots!! I think I am going to try this out myself...it would be easier for me to do this on a smaller scale. Thank you!!
