Linda sounds like you had a great day! Sara did you have to tip the person who delivered your groceries? I saw the area that the Granbury Walmart has set up, I guess to teach people how to shop and where to pick up their groceries. I did not understand all of it. Hubby was impatient. But I need to learn how to use the service at our local HEB grocery store. With only two grocers and a growing population, both stores are very busy and often crowded. Our Wal-Mart often has empty shelves. One night they had no sodas...like Dr. Pepper. One evening they had no milk. I don't know what the problem is...but they need to try to fix it. |

Marilyn, When you pay out there is a section for tips and you click on what you want to do from none to 5% - 10% - etc. I tipped 10% which is what I do for waiters/waitresses. Today it was a young woman in her 20s who was polite and friendly. I was her first customer and I hope her experience with me was a good one. She brought my groceries in and put them on kitchen counter. That was well worth the tip for me not to have to carry bags of groceries in.
I did mess up on ordering bananas. I click on 2 but did not say in instructions what kind of two. I wanted 2 bananas and she selected 2 bunches. Next time I will know to specify 2 single bananas. I will be making banana All-Bran muffins and pudding in the next couple of days. There is a way to handle mistakes but I was going to make the muffins anyway and I do like banana pudding. |

Sara, I love to add a banana to my smoothies. I peel them and put them in freezer bags then freeze them. They are so sweet and I don't need any ice. |

Gluehwein is a hot/warmed spiced wine from Germany. I think it is similar to Glogg but not as sweet.

A little more on home delivery of groceries. I signed up for a year and will have no delivery fee. Only a $3.95 service fee for each order and tip if I choose to tip. Today I received an e-mail from the delivery company with a list of the stores in town they now deliver to. Kroger - Aida - CVS Pharmacy - and Pet-Co. Since I have signed up for the year I can order from all these stores as I do with Brookshires. I may never do it but it's nice to know I can. To have home delivery you have to order min of $35. |

Wow Marilyn it sounds like your stores need to really enlarge so they have enough food for the neighborhood. That has to be hard when they are out of food. Kind of scary. That was interesting Kristi, I had never heard of that before. Sara it sounds like a good idea on getting the Home delivery. Unloading stuff is hard sometimes!
Well everyone have a good day!
Love you all!

So Sara, is this an Independent company that is delivering your groceries...not the grocery store itself??? Do you choose the day of the week for Them to shop and deliver? Do they contact you with a total of your groceries get your info to pay for it before they leave the store? I guess if they are independent they go through a check out line too. I think that is a great idea. |

Yes, Marilyn it's an independent company. When I signed up I gave them my debit card info and address. I logged on to instacart site and shopped - like Amazon Prime Pantry. To sign up for a year it's $99. No delivery fee of $7 plus some cents. There is a $4 service charge for each order. You choose to tip the personal shopper or not. Un-limited times I can order - there is a minimum of $35 for each order.
I shopped before 8a.m. that morning and my groceries were delivered at 9:30a.m. - I think I might had been their first customer at Brookshires. You choose a time frame that you want your order delivered.
Not sure totally how it works yet but I think the personal shoppers are on call for all the stores offering home delivery. I know that Jasmine who delivered mine groceries got a page and she accepted to do my order. There must be a person in Paris who coordinates the personal shoppers from a separate office. I do know Jasmine was not in Brookshires when she was paged. As long as he/she has a computer they could be anywhere.
I hope to save money by ordering only what I need and want - no picking up extra things around the store that I'm prone to do. Also it will keep me away from the Lay's potato chip aisle. lol They're my biggest temptation and I am trying to lose weight.
I checked my on-line bank record and it listed Brookshires not instacart. Don't know the procedure but the personal shopper has a way to check out just like any other shopper. Brookshires gets paid for the groceries and instacart is paid for the service of shopping and delivering. Why hadn't someone thought of this before? |

Sounds like a great deal, Sara. Es[ecially bypassing the potato chips and chocolate aisles - my weaknesses, too. |

Linda, I hope you find stores that deliver to your zip-code. I will still go to Brookshires a couple times a month for wine - they don't deliver alcohol in Paris but do in some places. |

Sara, thanks for the information. You are way ahead of me! I have tried planning a menu...but that does not work with my husband. He has asked for hamburgers, homemade, twice this week. Nachos for supper one night and tamales another night. I do plan the lunchbox menu...but sometimes I plan for a week and like this week they only went out of town three days. Then my husband got a bad bad cold and spent two days in bed.oh well. Some day! |

Been working on the annual pumpkin rolls today. Actually, they aren't really annual because I haven't made them the last few years. Lol. Oh well, had to make something easy to get me started in the direction of holiday baking. These are going to some friends from my church. |

I finished putting up our tree tonight. The smell of pine is always such a fresh scent and it brings out a flood of memories from my childhood.
Yummm, Denise, pumpkin rolls sound delicious! I like anything pumpkin. |

Our Wal-Mart was just remolded and we have the online grocery now. I want to try it for the heavy stuff! I am also glad we shopped for Lily June in November, cause Im too tired now to even think of standing in line anywhere!!
Oh Winnie, I can close my eyes and smell the pine! I have a small real tree in my dining room. I can smell it when I walk by. I have the artificial one in the living room, because I leave it up until the end of January most years! Hugs! Connie
