I did not get to my floors either. I was busy in the upstairs cleaning things out again. My bedroom is in desperate need of a deep clean so I have been working on that. Not today but will pick up where I left off and get the floors done tomorrow.

We are closing in on the end of May. Does anyone have plans for Memorial Day?

Will just be having a cookout with the kids and grands. May head in to town for the parade.

No plans but I did hang bunting on gate to Yellow Rose Cottage and six small flags in the little boy western boots hanging on front door. Dust to dawn light on porch so the flags are lit all night long.

We don't have any plans for the weekend. A tropical system is entering the Gulf from the Yucatan Peninsula and is projected to bring us heavy downpours late Saturday through early Monday. The system is not associated with high winds, which is a blessing, but tons of rain. For the past two weeks we have had lover 6 inches of rain and everything is saturated!! Yesterday was dry and today might be the same, which would greatly help dry things up before the deluge hits!!UGH!! The early arrival of a wet, humid, and soggy summer is not very exciting.

I purchased a small little loom that makes woven squares about 6"x6". My plan this rainy weekend is to figure it out and give it a try. Remember those old loop looms we used to use, when we were kids, to make potholders? Well, this is the same sort of thing but I am not 100% sure on how it gets started. I read the directions a few times and it was sort of confusing. I think I need to make my strips of cloth and then experiment as I read how to do it. I am a kinesthetic learner, which means I have to get my hands in there and try as I go in order for the written directions to make any sense. Anyone else need to learn that way?

I forgot to mention that I have posted a swap over on the main Forum for a Farmboys Swap for Father's Day. Basically, it is for anyone who has a favorite Farmboy that would love his own Farmgirl Mail surprise. The person doesn't have to be a Father, husband etc. Just a favorite Farmboy you would love to surprise. Denise and some others of us were thinking about doing this earlier this year. Some ideas that pop into my mind for swap goodies could be microwave popcorn, beef jerky, chocolate, small LED flashlight for the car ect. Just fun stuff.

I just wanted everyone here to know in case you wanted to sign up.

Winnie,
I have one of those looms and I am a hands on learner too. I have been able to learn a lot from youtube. It's how I learned to knit.
I understand about the rain. We are having a few dry days before more comes our way.

Going out to see Em in her recital on Saturday. It's a long drive for just one day but we told her we would come. Have to keep those promises.

Directions don't make sense to me like they used to. When I worked for Collins Radio as a young woman I could build complex units by the plans and then as a inspector at TI I inspected circuit boards by looking at diagrams. at LOF in Sherman I wrote quality manuals. Now I look at a diagram or read directions and I might as well be looking at chicken scratching. If I really try over time I may figure it out but it takes the fun out of whatever I want to do.

I had one of those looms as a child - might be fun again if the directions are easy to understand. I've enjoyed the new embroidery pattern of carrots - all straight lines. I told y 'all the patterns were simple. Yesterday I finished the five carrots - have the tops, word Carrots, and the one line frame to do. I'll start out using the bag to store carrots in fridge. If it doesn't work out I can stuff it and use on one of my porches.

Glad to know that others find directions confusing these days as well!! Denise, that is a good idea to look on Utube too.
Sara, your carrot embroidery project sounds really cute! Plus a great way to store veggies in fridge while being Earth friendly!!

I had and still have (I think) one of those potholder looms. I also used to use yarn and make squares with it and took them off the loom by chain-stitching around the square. You could then stitch the squares together by connecting the loops on the edges - one square to another - to make afghans.

Some directions today are very complicated. Being a technical editor I can tell you it is because they are not correctly written. Especially if they are designed/printed in a foreign country where the language structure is different. I have learned/taught myself different computers/word processing systems, many different computerized and antique sewing machines, craft projects, etc, and can retain the how-to of what I need to know better if I just do it. If I take a course, it usually doesn't teach me what I really need and I don't remember as much.

Made it to the girlies house safe and sound. We only have today and then leave for home tomorrow. 10 hr drive so have to leave early. But any time I can spend time with them is a blessing. Looking forward
to Em's recital, then we will go out to lunch. They have a sitter lined up and the 4 of us will have an evening out together.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello everyone,

Not much going one here. Well, I say that all the time and yet it's not like I'm lounging around in a house coat eating bonbons all day! lol

I'll be headed to Montreal this Sunday to visit with a friend and then onwards to my mum's for dinner. I've been on the road so much as of late. A funeral last week in St Zenon and the back and forth to Montreal has me at 19,000 miles on a car that is barely 9 months old! Oh well, that's what a car is for!

On the quilting front, I'm still working on completing UFOs. Just when I think I'm making a dent, a new UFO that hasn't been recorded surfaces and I'm back at a minus completion! lol So much for progress! Oh well, I've never trusted numbers anyway! lol

Catch you all later! Cheers!

Going to my sister's this morning with a family friend. She lives thirty miles due east of me on a farm with 40 chickens and Judy the mule. Love riding through the countryside and looking for scissor tails. It's always fun to see them on the highline wires.

We had a great visit with the family. Emi did beautifully in the recital. They did daddy daughter routines and if was great seeing Jon up there with her getting into it. Last night we went to a movie. Headed home with loads of photos. Will share when I get them on the laptop.
