Nice memories too!

Marlee, I am glad you are feeling better. I hope your husband will get to feeling better soon too.
I'd like to punch that dr. Who told the hubby he was old. They have no idea what real pain is. It drains your energy and leaves you down hearted. Getting old is not for sissies. All we can do though is laugh about it.

Bonnie - I'm trying to imagine you punching a doctor, lol. Only once have I ever swung at a doctor, and my hubby LOVES to remind me about it! I had kidney stones and needed surgery to break them up... well the doctor also put a stent in so the pieces could pass easier. He either did a bad job putting them in, or the stent got pulled out a little in the process. In any case, after leaving the hospital, I realized I was constantly peeing on myself, because the stent just let the urine run out (gross I know!). So I had to go see the doctor in the office. Doggone if that doctor did not try to jam the stent back up me with no numbing medicine or meds, or anything. Well... I swung! Thankfully (I think) the nurse caught my arm... and at that, the doctor yanked the stent out! Two days later I ended up on a morphine drip in the hospital as all those pieces came out!

Oh Shannon, what an awful experience. But some doctors just get immune to their patients feelings.

It was pretty awful at the time, but now it is just funny... I'm an extremely "peace-making" person... so the fact that I swung at a doctor cracks my hubby and kids up!!! I blame the drugs that were still in my system from the procedure, as well as the pain :)

Our primary care doctor in SC was the BEST! When we first figured out I had Conn's Disease, I couldn't have the surgery to remove my adrenal gland due to nursing Aly... I was on a lethal amount of potassium and yet still would cramp up... I actually carried liquid potassium with me at all times. Anyways, the one day, my potassium level dropped way low and I completely cramped up, which it also caused heart problems (I use to pass out multiple times a day everyday, to the point where the kids literally would just walk over me). Anyways, thankfully hubby was home, so he drove me to the doctor, which was five minutes from where we lived. I was so bad cramped that I couldn't speak... after giving me a couple doses of liquid potassium (and being about ready to call an ambulance), the doctor asked for some sign that I was getting better. Shells joked that she harasses her kids about their faces freezing in funny manners, and now she has seen it actually happen. Unable to laugh at her, I was able to stick my tongue out a small amount at her. She harassed me after that about being the only patient who has ever stuck their tongue out her, hahahahahaha!!!

Good morning,

It's been a hectic month for me. I'm presently taking a graduate level course in counseling at SUNY .... it's intense ... Mondays & Wednesday from 5:00 to 9:45 p.m. .... I will be done in mid July ....

We are presently in the Vermont Quilt Festival week (https://vqf.org/) Largest quilt show in Vermont .... I'm working extra hours at Fibre Junction to accommodate travelers ... I'm looking forward to tomorrow (Monday) so I can rest a bit. My brain is fried at the moment.

Attended the Mother Earth News Fair the weekend of June 10th. I absolutely loved it! It was their first time in Vermont. It was kind of small but I'm sure if they return it will be much bigger. I learned so much. Seem that heritage breeds are making a come back. Makes me want to sell my house and move out in the country (although being from Montreal, where I presently live I call it the country but some people think this is a metropolitan area LOL I have no idea where they get that to think that way ... the tallest building is three stories high and abandoned. I should take photos of the village to let you all see what they consider metropolitan lol) I attended two lectures by Patricia L. Foreman - a chicken specialist ... great lectures ... You can check out her bio here:

http://www.motherearthnews.com/biographies/pat-foreman-poultry-pioneer

Connie - what an adorable fairy garden you have going. I haven't started on mine. How wonderful to have your grandmother's rose bush ... wow 50 years! Amazing ... with our cold weather I'm happy that mine made it another year.

Marlee - So good to see you. I do hope that everything has settled for you. Glad you are feeling better. Keep well.

Darlene - lovely bird houses you posted on the May thread. Those possums are cute! We presently have a family of ground hogs that we will be relocating. They are cute but .... they like our garden. However, this year we are giving it a break. The ground hogs will not have a source of food, neither will the deer for that matter!

Brenda - so sorry to read about your dental issues ...

Julie - Good to see you! You are quite the busy bee. How unfortunate for the flooding ... I hope that things are back to normal by now.

Marilyn - I do hope all is well with you given your recent dentist issue. Great advice regarding rattlers and gardens, it does make sense. I'm so sorry to read that you are loosing chickens. As for your Kindle Fire, you might be able to change the sensitivity in the settings. How wonderful that Baylee is getting furniture from you. Sadly, with our throw away society mentality I wonder what today's generation of antiques will be.

Shannon - That is a huge garden ... but you are right about the probability of a full crop. However, I can just imagine how busy you will be during harvest with canning and all. Glad to read that the kids are now careful about rattlers. You might want to check out Patricia L. Foreman Bio I listed above. It does have various links to her website. She was so amazing ...

Sara - When you're a story teller/writer like yourself people just like to tell you their stories. Perhaps they think you might want to use it in one of your books. Tony Robbins says "Life is happening for you" ... life is about finding the gift in every situation.

Linda - Your trip sounds lovely

Bonnie - I just don't understand the insensitivity of doctors.

Winnie - Wow, I cannot wait to hear all about your trip. Enjoy!

In my rush to attend to a customer I neglected to close off and just pressed le bouton!

Enjoy the day everyone!

Farmgirl hugs

It's a piddling kind of day so I decorated my front porch for July 4th. Later today I may hang the red, white, and blue swag on the fence gate in front of the Yellow Rose Cottage.

I rescued the two pink flamingos from the loft in the cottage and put them in the lantanas. I had them in front of the cottage on the inside of the fence but last summer Annie bit one of the beaks off so I put them up. This will probably be the last summer for them - they are looking a little rough around the edges.

Today I may finally get around to hanging curtains in the cottage. Went through my stacks of tea towels and found six that I won't miss in the house. Plan is to hang them on rope with clothes pins on each side of the windows. Marilyn gifted me six mini-aprons which I will hang three between the tea towels on the two front windows. The window over the canning worktable will only have tea towels. Don't want to dirty up the aprons - they're two special to get splattered.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello everyone.
Things have not changed much with my dad. Each day is a bit worse for pain. We took him last week and they gave him cortisone shot in one knee. Now he was so bad this morning we called the Dr. as he was saying some things that made us know he is in some real pain and he couldn't walk this morning. So we are waiting for them to call back and give an idea of what we should do. The mornings are the worst for him.

I have been piddling in the garden and have harvested most of my peas, all the radishes. I think I will have to enlarge next years garden a bit to fit everything a little better. It's hard to get in there anymore to do any weeding. But everything is flourishing.

New chicks are doing great. They love being outdoors. We have to let the older girls out in the yard in order to let the chicks in the fenced yard as they are not big enough yet to have them all together.

Not much else is happening here. I am working on a couple of my hobbies when I can. Knitting and cross stitch.

Hope all is well. Haven't caught up on all the posts yet. Summer is such a busy time. I am trying to get my porch decorated this week for the holiday.

Denise, My experience with cartizone is slowly it begins to help. It could take a while. I had a mix of cartizone and another something in my right shoulder four times, every three months, until I actually got good relief. My son was an angry bear after they put it in his knee, for about a week. Very unlike him. I hope your dad gets some relief. Does he have a knee brace?

Good morning,

Always a pleasure to catch up on the henhouse forum. Speaking of forum, I haven't been on the main one in quite some time. With class twice a week, it's challenging at times.

Not much going on here except school work and life's usually happenings.

Sara, so creative of you to decorate your porch. It's on my bucket list to do the same .... one day! lol

Winnie, glad you are enjoying France ... what's a couple of pounds in exchange for some delish cuisine! All worth it to me! lol

Denise, thanks for dropping by and letting us know how you are. Your garden sounds wonderful! Please remember to take good care of yourself.

Take care of yourselves! Cheers!

Jumping on here real quick. Things are crazy busy!!! We got our goats a little over a week ago.... ten of them. So we are now milking twice a day and feeding babies three times a day. My inlaws get here tomorrow... we will be sightseeing all week long, which steady running always exhausts me! Hubby's birthday was this past Friday... Aly turns four today. Stressed pretty bad, and trying to remember to breathe, hahaha!

Denise - so glad to see you! Praying for your dad! I know when Brad got his injections in his back, he was a bear and just off... until around a week later. Glad your chickens are doing so well!!! We have around 143 now... 73 of which are broilers.

Carole - you sound really really busy! I will check out that book you recommended.

Speaking of books, I've been reading a really interesting one... "A Song for your Honor" based on a true story - so far, it is really good!

Alright - headed out to grocery shop. Have a good one guys <3

Still parked in the driveway of Ed's sister's house in grand Rapids. Hopefully, family problems will be settled today or tomorrow and we will at least get a week of traveling around Lake Michigan before we head home.

All of a sudden my left knee has started to really bother me. So not only is my hip on-again-off-again hurting, but now my knee, too. GRRR! Getting old is definitely NOT for sissies.

Monday we drove to Frankenmuth, MI - a neat German town. Just outside the downtown area is the "largest Christmas Store in the world" - Bronner's. WOW! They have everything there. I only got three ornaments (for my sister's birthday next month), but I could have spent a lot more. They have an entire section of Advent calendars, Thomas Kincaid, Studio 56, and many more. They have everything Christmas you could possibly think of. Then we ate a chicken dinner at a restaurant in town. It was supposed to be "the best chicken dinner ever" (which was claimed by two restaurants in town - LOL!) and we both thought the best part was the cabbage salad that was part of the appetizers. LOL!

Isn't it funny how people think their food is so wonderful and we think it is just ok.
How many siblings does Ed have? Are they older or younger than him. Life is too short to be fighting over whatever they think is a big deal. (Perhaps he can tell them, "You get born and you die...those are the most important.
Things that happen in your life. Everything else is just small stuff.") A speaker at a teachers conference once said that.

Linda, it sounds like you are having a good time, mostly, Maybe your standing differently and affecting your knee, because your hips hurt and make you walk differently. See if doesn't help some.
That sounds like a fun store to shop in.

Enjoy the evening.

One of his sisters is 1-1/2 years older (she's the one who moved to Texas a couple months ago) and the other is 12 years younger. It is the ex-husband (but still in the picture) of the younger sister who is the real problem. It is a real long story.

The bed in this motorhome is very uncomfortable. It was a brand new RV mattress in January, but has the feel now of an old thin mattress. We need to get a new one for sure. And it could be the new statins I'm taking.

Linda sorry your hip is acting up again. Hopefully it will ease up so you can have a good night's sleep.

I've been in and out of the Yellow Rose Cottage since 6 this morning. It's been cool with a nice breeze. Someone is getting rain but not us. Being cooler made canning so much more enjoyable. Put up four pints large white lima beans. What beans were left over I finished cooking with my dried kale, rice, and smoked link sausage.

Later today I will cut out the "old timey fan" for the swap. I usually don't join in on swaps because my skills are limited these days but this swap caught my imagination and I can still design, cut and paste.

Good morning,
Dad seems to be going downhill as far as moving around but today he was able to use the walker to get up. Yesterday it was the wheelchair. Doesn't eat much anymore. So he had a milkshake for breakfast. At least he is eating. Sure can be stubborn!
I took time last night and went to the chiropractor and this morning worked on a bit of crafting.
The weather is gorgeous but heating up today. Picked some cherry tomatoes and more peas from my little garden.
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their summertime!

Linda I cut out the fan - had to have a visual size to lay out my design. Will be going with multi-materials. Using a paint stirrer for handle - will paint it and stain. On a small test part of handle I have already gotten the look I want. I have a wood burning tool so am thinking about using it on the handle. This is fun - so many ideas whirling around in my head - so many ways to take the design and enough time for me to get it done. Also thinking about adding a way to hang it if my partner chooses.
