Well ladies our drama continues. I guess I insisted he use the walker, go out and get in the car and we went to our sons home for dinner. It was his first outing. It was difficult to get him on the porch , but I think he enjoyed being there. Miss Hadlee brought him home in the golf cart. Then he went to sleep and fell out of bed again...I called Wade, no answer, I called Julie. Everyone came to help but Wade could not help. My big strong soN had just wrecked out his good knee. He was suffering. So now we have two men down. Julie and the kids went to get a thinner, firmer mattress that belongs in a sleeping area of a horse trailer. Now his bed is not soft, but we are hoping he does not fall again. I talked to a friend tonight whose hubby had one hip replaced. She said he had spasms too and he was also knocked out of bed. I would never have believed it if I had not heard and seen it myself. He is trying to get by on advil. We will see if it works tonight.

We have discussed that many times over thes two weeks. He did not want to be confined. Today he said that he should have done what everyone advised him to do...rehab at a nursing home. I am now thinking that his brain is very confused by all the meds. Today he said he only had one heart pill left and I needed to get more. (I got them Wednesday) later I said something about his fall, almost two weeks ago ... He disagreed, saying he fell last Tuesday. He was clearer tonight. Hopefully tomorrow's therapy will not make him as sore as Friday's did.

Thank you Sara. My husband is quiet, had his therapy and lunch. Teacher was pretty grumpy with the kids...She even said she was,but that did not stop her.

Marilyn, You can't get away from problems :(! Not much left of the school year - YAY!!!!! Now to get hubby well! Is it too late for him to get a hospital bed so he doesn't fall out of bed? I would be concerned about him hurting his new hip as well as hurting his "good" hip! Is he doing better off the narcotics? I can't take anything like that! Praying for you all!

Ruth he is better since he gave up the narcotics. Two or three Advil before the therapist was due this morning, helped him get his exercises done. I told him that in two more weeks his pain should be a distant memory. Thanks you for asking.

Good morning everyone!

Marilyn, prayers for your dh. We used a bed cane for my dad when he came home from rehab and took it out when his PT was done.

Our baby chicks are growing. They are 4 weeks old. So next week they will go into their own pen inside the big coop. The babies are RI reds and the Black Sex Link. I love how pretty they are. Mostly,we have been taming things outside. It is looking quite good. I have been working in the garden which makes me happy. I need to apply for my badge but I'm waiting on one of the books to arrive.

Denise my three chickens are golden sex link and they are still laying for my sister. I do miss them but Annie would have killed them if they stayed. Being a hunter is just in her.

Today I'm going to get my car inspected. One of my least favorite things to do. But it is a good time to have them check the tires and fluids.

I still have the apple juice I made last week in the fridge so I should make apple jelly when I get home. If I ready everything before I leave it will be easier for me to do it when I get home.

Marilyn, I am glad to hear that your husband is doing better on Advil and getting his PT exercises done. Hopefully, you have turned the corner. Be sure that wound is draining less and looking better every day.

Inspection went well, tires are good, but the ants found the apple juice with sugar, in Dutch oven, I put in the Yellow Rose Cottage before leaving. Lost the whole batch. Lesson learned. Kill ants on outside of cottage and they can't get inside. Now I got a pot to wash with no jelly to show for it.

Oh Sara, I am sorry. All that work, for nothing. Ants can find a way. They got in our peanut butter, in the cabinet. Jar with lid screwed on tight. Tiny black ants that don't go for sweets but love cheese and peanut butter. Go figure.

Marilyn, these are small black ants with a mild sting. At least they aren't fire ants. Haven't had to deal with fire ants since I have been in Paris. In Howe I fought them for over thirty years.

Oh those are not friendly ants. We have the little black ants that get into things, Soapy water sprayed on them kills them instantly. or Terro that works too.
Thank goodness we don't have those stinging ones here.

As much as I hate using chemical anything, Terro is the only thing I have found that they will take back to the colony and gets rid of them for good.
Sorry about your jelly Sara. When I first learned to make apple jelly my mom was here visiting. I was peeling and slicing apples for applesauce, dried apples and apple pie filling. Mom told me "Don't throw out the apple peelings we will use them to make jelly". So, I put peels and cores into a huge pot added water and cooked those peelings and cores. Then we strained the juice through cheescloth and let it hang over a bowl for some time. Then we used that juice to make the jelly. I was so happy to have used the total apple. I miss doing things like that with and learning from my mom. She taught me so much.

I just recently had a major invasion of those little sugar ants. Terro has taken care of the problem and it is the only solution I have ever found that works. Then we had a steady stream of larger black ants on the front side of the house coming out of the soffets under the roof line. It took about 3 days of Terror to finally put an end to that group as well. Whenever we have a prolonged dry period, I seem to have ant invasions and they come in large numbers in several locations at once.

Sara, I am so sorry you lost your jelly project. That is aggravating for sure!

Thanks Winnie.

They're paving 8th St. Yay! My street is between 8th & 9th. Now I can wash my car. For months the sand, dirt, and grime from the roadwork has covered everything. The way the wind blows here it looked like a mini-sandstorm every time it blew out of the west. I did wash my car once and by the second day it looked like I hadn't touched it. I managed to keep car windows clean so I could see to drive. Can't wait to have a clean car again.
