Debbie I absolutely will pray for your older members. Our church sounds very similar. Ours is a little bigger, but not much. There are some young families but the older couples are the ones who keep the church running. I started attending our Ladies Evening Guild meetings a couple years ago, and trying to get more involved, but I'm the youngest one there by a substantial margin. At our Christmas party we were voting on officers for the next year, and no one wanted to run for VP because you're VP for a year, and then President the year after. I felt so bad there was no one listed so I said I would do it, but in reality I barely know how all of that works! They assured me that it would be fine and they'd help me figure it out, so I'm not too worried. It was just sad that no one wanted to do it.

It's definitely a good idea for all of us to be more mindful of the elderly members of our church or community. Thank you for reminding us of that. I'll make sure they're added to my prayers.

Debbie,
We have some older as well as middle age and some younger families.
I think it is wonderful that you could take a meal and spell that daughter for a little bit. I know what it is like to be the caregiver and what a blessing that would have been to have someone make a meal or come stay with dad for a bit. I know that it will be immensely appreciated.
We live about 30- 40 minutes away from the church we attend so it is nothing like easy for us to do extra things at church. We do have a ladies study and there are a range of mostly 50+ there except for our Pastor's wife who leads it. She is in her 40's but has the full time care of two of their grandchildren. So we have missed a few study sessions due to her responsibilities.
We too have been losing many of our older people and I often think of that now that my dad's gone that we are the grandparents and the olders in our family.

Denise~~

Hi ladies! It is 4 in the morning here... but I simply cannot sleep. We are trying to figure out a way to go to MD for the viewing and funeral, but as of right now, do not even know when they will be. Brad only has 4 days he can take off. The children are beside themselves with grief, especially as we had no warning! He went in yesterday for his annual stress test, went home to take a nap, and didn't wake up. He was only 61!!! Brad may have to fly there by himself... so we can take care of the animals... but I'm not even sure how we will be able to work that.

Shannon I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved Father in law. How hard it must be for Brad and the children and of course you.
Please know I am thinking of all of you. Sending healing light, love and prayers.

I'm sure that all of you girls remember Jami Bolton? She and I write back and forth. Please keep her in your prayers! She is not one for asking for help but she just lost her mom the Friday before Mother' day...and the next day on Saturday was her mom's birthday...and then Sunday was Mother's day...a rough weekend. She and her mom were best friends and she doesn't have brothers or sisters to help her through all that has to be done. And, she is having to take treatments for her lupus once a month and it really knocks her off of her feet. Thank you!

I wanted to share a couple stories with you all related to prayer. My sister, Shea, had a really hard time last year. She had a breakup last March (2017) and she really loved him. She was kind of a mess. There were many late nights I spent on the phone with her last year. I prayed for her continuously, and also for him because she still loved him and he seemed to be sort of lost in life. He had a great job, but no house, moved back in with parents, etc. To make a long story short, around November of last year I really started to feel intensely that I needed to pray for him. I even thought maybe I should contact him, but I prayed about that and never felt led to take that step. In January they started talking again. They got back together shortly after that. This year while we were all in South Haven for vacation, he was there the first night and proposed to Shea by the lighthouse at sunset. I had a conversation with him that night and he told me that in November, while he was in Florida at his sister's wedding, that was when he knew. He knew he made a mistake and he would never be happy without her. I was so happy the night they got engaged that my mouth hurt the next day from smiling! I thank God for bringing those two together.

Also while we were in South Haven, my cousin, Allie, and her boyfriend came to visit us for a night. The day before, my aunt, Allie's mom, called Shea and she was very upset. She really didn't like Allie's boyfriend. He is older than her, an atheist (Allie has always been very involved in the catholic church), jobless, etc. Shea told me about the conversation and we both just said, ok, well things are looking pretty good for you now, we need to focus our prayers on Allie. They left from South Haven to go on a 3 week road trip around the pacific northwest, and then down to Arizona. They both live in Colorado. Allie texted Shea when they got home 2 nights ago and told her to call her the next day. This whole weekend, myself, my sister, my aunt, have all separately been feeling convicted and prayed for Allie. Not prayed that they would breakup (although maybe my aunt did.. idk lol), but bringing our request before God, and saying not my will, but yours. When Shea talked to her yesterday she told her that they broke up the night before, and that she was moving back to Illinois to be around her family. Thank you, Lord.

I know these kinds of prayers can seem trivial when compared to a sick relative, physical suffering, financial crisis, but I still think it's important to show the power of prayer at work even for everyday relationships, maybe especially for everyday relationships. I saw a post last year (not on MJF, but I can't remember where) and someone said they were talking to an actual witch, and she told them that these occultists and witches laugh at the Christians, because they have all the power in the world, through prayer, and they don't use it. I can't get that out of my head.

I love you my farmgirl sisters! Keep up the prayer life. Ask and you shall receive, not always what you want, but if you never ask, how can God bless you?

Erin, I loved your post yesterday. I've heard several times that God wants to hear everything that is on our mind, even the trivial, every day stuff. Even if we aren't "needing" anything, He just wants to chat :)
Prayer is powerful! I'm so glad things have worked out for your sister and cousin!

Debbie,
' thanx so much for requesting prayers for me...........it means so much. I guess I should ask more for me, but always feel like I'm being selfish or whiney...lol
I DOOOOOOOO need the prayers tho.........since Mama passed away mid May, my Lupus has gone off the deep/dangerous end. In addition to the weekly chemo meds and the monthly IV infusions, they may need to up the IV meds. I'm maxed out on the chemo meds already. The meds and treatments are basically keeping it from getting much worse, but not as well as we had hoped. Please pray it gets better. I watch both my princess grandbabies and love EVERY minute of being a Memaw. I don't wanna be sick for them,or wiped out exhausted for everyone that depends on me. Thanx soooo much for being such an amazing friend and blessing !!!

Hey ladies! If you could please continue to pray for my health and wisdom for the doctors!!! I was told a couple months ago that I was fighting a couple intestinal bacterial infections... so I went on two different hard hitting antibiotics. Then they said those were gone but I had new ones!?!? They want to send me to a specialist. In the mean time, a holistic NP suggested a lemonade fast, where you only drink lemonade and water for ten days, to cleanse out my intestines. I started it Tuesday... yesterday i passed out and now have a concussion. I'm so frustrated!!!! I really really really want to get healthy, but my body just seems to be really struggling! And no one seems to have answers!

Praying for you, Shannon!

Just wondering, have you looked into or considered the carnivore diet? I don't have any huge health problems, but I was so curious when I found out about it and I started to read a lot about it. It seems to help a lot of people that have major health issues. Everything about it is very anecdotal and there's some controversy (understandably so) but there are great success stories. I started it this month, and like I said, I don't have any major health problems but I've noticed a dramatic mood improvement.
