Katie, I am concerned about you!!! I don't understand why you had that tube or why he removed it???? I think you most certainly need to see a doctor...perhaps get a second opinion. Prayers!

Carole, do you have to guide your long arm machine to make every curve and curly cue? Do you draw them on or just free hand it???

Thank you everyone. She was really happy with it.

Marilyn - I have a call in to the doctor. I will see him tomorrow. I don't know if a couple of stitches will do the trick or more serious surgery is in order. They took out the tube because my stomach restriction opened up so I no longer needed a feeding tube. This was my drainage tube that empties bile (sorry to be so gross) that I supposedly no longer needed the bag. We took the bag off a few months ago and the last step was to get rid of the bag.

Connie that little skirt you made for Lily June is adorable! Does the kitty come out of the pocket?

Katie, what a pretty jacket. Love the fall applique!

My project today isn't fun. My Oliver broke his collarbone over the weekend and trying to keep a sling on him has been impossible. So today his mommy and I are going to try to invent one that will stay on a little better. The specialist he saw yesterday said it would still heal fine if he didn't always wear one, but having one on is just a good reminder to him that he needs to be careful and reminds his sisters they can't play rough with him. We need one with a good clasp in it, so he can't unhook it like he can the Velcro one he is wearing.

Julie, when Hadlee was two and fell off the out door toy, fracturing her arm, the doctor put a splint on and wrapped it nicely with an ace bandage. She picked at it until the horse shoeing guy, who was working on Wade's horses, wrapped her splint with duct tape! No more problems. When she saw the orthopaedic doctor two weeks later it had healed!

Oh, Julie, I'm sorry to hear about Oliver. I hope he is healing and that you have found a suitable solution.

It between harvest, cooking, doctors, tests and resting, I've been trying desperately to get ready for the craft fair that Oct 21 and 22. My goal is to make a lot of little things ($10 and under) that customers can easily carry. My specialty are pillows but they get on the pricier side and if they buy a whole pillow and not just a sham it's awkward to carry around. I've even offered to hold their purchase but the size and prize seems to turn them off. So, I'm hoping my re-centering of my product will help my bottom line! If I get a chance, I'll post some pictures. I'd love the opinions of everyone; maybe even some pricing suggestions (I'm terrible with that!)

Please don't overwork yourself. You are going through a lot right now with your health issues. We want you well.

I'm sending you a picture of a neat LITTLE item - won't sell for much, but might help. I know larger items are hard - I've passed things up because they were heavy or larger and I didn't want to carry them around. And depending on the size of the bazaar, sometimes I cannot find a booth I like a second time.

I'm sitting at a booth at Bois d'arc Bash this afternoon, selling raffle tickets for my guild's quilt. Im'm going early - hopeffully there will be good craft booths there so I can get some ideas.

Katie I agree about big bulky/heavy items, however two years ago I had success with wooden rafter tail pumpkins. The wood was free it came from my son's construction sites. My cost: wood glue, paint, and a bit of sand paper. Still people often bought sets of three, baby, middle and larger sized. We bagged and tagged them and they came back by to pick them up later. I was surprised at the response.

Marilyn - what are rafter tails? Are they wooden or metal?

Linda, here are four rafter tails glued together and painted a pale green. I used twisted brown paper for stems, curled just for a bit of just for a vine and brown paper leaves With a smear of green paint.

Ok here are three together, I know the bitty ones are not called rafter tails but they are cute. I did not make them smooth I just took away the roughest parts. I love the distressed look you get with wood.
My son was impressed that I made something cute from his trash.

Those are neat, Marilyn. Hmmmm - now I will be looking for more trash. LOL! You could probably make Christmas trees with them, too, with buttons for ornaments.

That is true. I made some tRees about two feet tall, but I need bigger, heavier pots, so they don't blow over. I was experimenting, and they still need to be finished. I'll get a photo of one tomorrow, when I can see out there.

Those are cute Marilyn, what a neat idea.
Julie I would love to see some of your crafts sometime.
I know when I go to a craft fair, I usually look for the little items and of course what I can afford and carry. It is fun looking at everyones different crafts though.

Hugs all

I agree, Darlene. I go to craft fairs/bazaars for ideas of what is popular to make. Today I saw some really neat Recycled item projects at the Bois d'arc Bash. Ed is thinking of retiring, and I have LOTS of ideas of things he can make to sell to get a little extra cash. LOL!

It doesn't hurt to look ahead of time and get ideas of things to do or try.
and change them altogether sometimes.
I wish Ed the best and you have a good time too You just never know what you will find out there.

hugs

Marilyn,
What a great craft idea! So different. I love going to the craft fairs. It's always difficult to come up with new ideas. I know here so many make and sell so many of the same things. I tend to go more towards the useful and not so much toward the decorative unless its something like a wreath or something like that. Have found some great gifts too!

Like you Denise, I usually buy for others. I love to see something outstanding, which is not very often right here. Since I enjoy making things, I find myself saying to myself, you can do that, just use the colors you love, etc. We have a craft fair in the city park the first Saturday in November, and there are some in surrounding communities also, beginning in October.
Wal-Mart has Prelit Christmas trees set up...already.
