I love fries, and I don't like sharing... lol. I rarely eat them though, so when I do, I'm really indulging.

Day 24: I'm thankful for this beautiful day that allowed me to get some flower boxes painted. These flower boxes have been waiting patiently on my porch for quite a while. Now they're finally painted! Awesome! :)

Well it's raining today, so I'm not sure if I'll get photos today. I think it's supposed to stop later, then we can put the plants in them, and I'll take a picture after that.

Day 25: I'm thankful for blueberries. They're so yummy, and everyone in my family loves them, except for Noelle. Which is pretty good for us, and I think if I give her a year, she'll love them too.

Day 25: New sheets. Okay I can relate. New sheets always feel good, especially if they are nice, crisp cotton percale. I have tried those high-thread count, high priced sheets and don't like them. They always feel limp, and wear out much to soon. The only thing better than new percale sheets, is the same sheets fresh from the clothesline.

Today, I am grateful my husband has a good, steady job...... although, I hate that he must go on long trips. He left today for 10 days in CA. :(

Day 26 Emergency potty breaks..... try to avoid, but McDonald's is always close by no matter where you happen to be.

Thankful for..... mmmm, hot showers. I don't care what the ambient temperature is, a hot, steamy shower always feels soooo good.

I have driven between Chicago and Fort Wayne too many times to count. I have a tiny bladder and 3 kids, so emergency potty breaks... all the time. I have never used a hotel lobby bathroom though. I've been in many.. and most are lovely, although I think my favorite bathroom is the one in Von Maur. So bright, pink, and piano music! :)

Day 26: I'm thankful for the breeze coming through my window. This summer has been really weird so far. It hasn't been very hot and sunny, just very rainy with cooler temps. I have been complaining about this a little, because it doesn't feel like summer. This morning though, I'm realizing that I really should be thankful for the weather, given that we have no a/c in the downstairs of our house. Normally it would be boiling inside. Instead it's actually pleasant. :)

Day 25: I can relate to clean sheets. My mother never would buy a fitted sheet. She line dried her sheets and ironed each one. Weekly she changed the sheets we slept on. Mom's sheets always felt wonderful. When I left and set up my own home, I followed her example for about 6 months. I learned to appreciate her work; but sheets went from the dryer directly to the beds. It was wonderful to return home to mom's beds.

Today I am grateful for the pain pill I had stashed so I could mask the leg and hip pain I had following sitting at an outdoor concert for 3 hrs. Finally, I could sleep.

Day 26: I don't think I have ever just popped in to use a hotel bathroom. I have used my favorite department store bathroom before. It always has been and still is the only consistently clean one in town. And, I have popped in to use a MacDonald's. Gross but necessary. Many times. ewww.

Today, I am grateful that DH will have last test to try to figure out what created his pain recently. (I think it was actually a freak event). We leave in 10 mins.

Day 27 Did you know the bra was "invented" by a man? I heard some where that he was an airplane engineer. He should have stuck to airplanes. Was there ever a more uncomfortable garment?

Today...the smell and feel of fresh air following the rain. It just finished raining, again.

Day 28: It looks like I might be off a day; but, I'm just going to keep on plowing through. Yes. I love the sound and feel of cutting construction paper! I've always loved cutting and pasting. I used to make my own paper dolls and their clothes, shadow boxes, dioramas, etc. I loved doing in-home daycare. We had lots of construction paper projects. In recent years I worked with before and after school programs and 4-H. So, again, construction paper. A whole sheet to yourself was always heaven.

I am also grateful today that we are celebrating DH's b'day with dinner out!

Day 27: I'm thankful for my husband... I might have already said this one, but according to the rules you can repeat once, and today is appropriate (July14) since it's our anniversary!

Day 28: In keeping with the theme, I'm thankful for construction paper! The giant Costco pack of construction paper to be exact. My kids demolish any kind of paper.

Day 29: Personally, I do not like alarm clocks. No, I do not like them at all. I am definitely NOT a morning person. If I must use one, my brain tells my body to wake up just before it goes off.Thank you, God. Once in awhile I will wake up with an hour to spare. I fall back to sleep; but, wake up every 5 minutes until just before the alarm is to go off. Time to spare before the alarm goes is NOT awesome..it is torture. DH says it is my responsibility to get myself up. Not so. I believe it was in our marriage vows that he would gently wake me every morning.

Today I am grateful that I followed DH's nagging to see a Doctor. I rarely do that for myself. After 4 days of intense sciatica pain, I was prescribed something that works to "mask?" the pain while healing. So much for sitting 3 hrs. through a concert on a lawn chair leaning downhill.

Alarm clocks... we had an intimate relationship while I was working outside the home. I used to have to get up at 2:30am to be at work at 4:00am. So glad those days are gone. So glad in fact, that I never use an alarm now (except for Sunday morning, I'm a first service girl, generally). However, I have been thinking lately, that I really need to change my sleeping schedule. It would be much more beneficial to go to bed earlier and get up earlier. Ben Franklin didn't say it for no reason. SO I see a change in my future....

Day 29: Today I'm thankful for books. I just finished the series I was reading, and I can't put it into words. How much I love a good book. Do you know the song "Thank you for the music" by ABBA? Great song, but that's about the closest I can get I think. If you replaced music with books. I just love love love a good book! :)

Day 28: I don't need to use one anymore - it seems I always wake up when I need to, which is great!
Day 29: Love it when socks match up :) I get quite perturbed when they don't :D

Day 28: I'm thankful for my husband's work...and to the alarm clock HE wakes up to at 4 in the morning :)
Day 29: I'm thankful for socks! I just bought new socks and Costco - and I forget how comfy new socks always feel :D

Trying to catch up :)

Day 22: Today I am thankful that we are moving :) Ready to get into the new place!
Day 23: Thankful for an amazing turn out last night to help us move! We had 20 people from church helping us! AND they put my bed up :)
Day 24: Thankful for a day to unpack yesterday, and not worry about the old house for a day :)
Day 25: Thankful for a dear friend that came out yesterday to help us paint for a couple hours at our old house!
Day 26: Thankful for life in general - today is the day of my hubby's coworker and friend's memorial service - he was 36 and drowned, leaving behind his wife and 4 children!
Day 27: Thankful for a friend that is willing to work on hubby's car that died yesterday, and neighbor's that answered the door at 2:30 this morning so I could find out where my hubby was!
Day 28: Thankful for the freedom to worship, without the fear of being burned at the stake for it!
Day 29: Thankful for hubby's coworker being okay - he was in a motorcycle accident last night, after someone switched into his lane and hit his back tire!
Day 30: Thankful for a Ben and Jerry's Half Baked ice cream - I needed some last night, and it hit the spot ;)
Day 31: Thankful for my older sister - she turned 41 today :)
Day 32: Thankful for the new carpet we got yesterday at the old house :)
Day 33: Thankful for my younger sister - she turned 34 today :) No matter how bad a day I am having, she can get me laughing :)
Day 34: Thankful for a weekend! It means two full days as a family - though probably working at the old house all day today and grocery shopping tomorrow

Ummmmm why am i so far ahead of everyone????

Day 28: construction paper - haven't used it in many many years. but I remember the sound of the scissors cutting it.
Day 29: alarm clocks - don't use them unless it is for some really important early morning appointment. hubby and I both have really good "built in" alarm clocks.
Day 30:all my socks match up because I get them all the same... wish I could get hubby to do the same, he has such a single sock collection
Day 31: time left in the meter; I think this happened once or twice in my life-time, and both time weren't even useful.
Day 32: crayons - when I was little I had one of those really big box of 100 Crayolla crayons, they were laid out flat in rows; each crayon had it's own little space in which it laid nice and snug; It was one of my favorite "toys". Oh that aroma each time I lifted the cover and inspected my colorful treasure.

Okay, I know I just included a couple of extra days, but I don't know how soon I will be able to get back to this.

7/15: thankful for the luxury of having a second refrigerator. it comes in handy while I am harvesting veggies.
7/16: thankful that all my children and grands are reasonably healthy and strong and that I still have them.
7/17: thankful that so far all my neighbors are good people and not complaining about our new rooster.(so far)
7/18: thankful that yet another date at the lab for blood tests was uneventful.

Shannon I am so glad you have moved and are "settled in". Now you can rest until the little one arrives.

Judith I hope your back is feeling better. Never put off going to get checked out. My niece had a kidney stone and she was so scared to go to the doctor (fearing the pain may have been cancer) she did nothing and endured that horrible pain until it was too late.

Thank you all for your condolences.

{hugs}

Day 30: Our household has had a love/hate relationship with the "sock box" since our kids were little. We always had orphan socks!

Today I am grateful that I only ruined 1/2 load of laundry; and, most of that was my own. I missed a tube of lovely pink lipstick from grand daughter's pocket. It went through washer and dryer. sigh.

My sciatica is much better, thank you, Kathleen. I quit taking the pain meds. Yay! I guess that is two things to be grateful for!

Day 30: Yup - always love extra minutes in my parking meter!
Day 31: Nope - don't love the smell of crayons - at all :D My moms volkswagon bug always smelled like crayons and I really didn't like it :)

I'm thankful for friends that came over for dinner!!
I'm thankful for my brand new antique secretary desk (and hand needle pointed chair) that we got for $100 at an antique store today :D :D

Shannon - I'm not sure why you are on day 34...

I'm going to continue on reading the book. I'm not much of a writer, and I'm wondering if someone can share some ideas on what to write to the local newspaper for the Intermediate Badge? I'm a little leery to do this - we live in such a small town, and I have no desire for my name to be recognized or associated with any political - and I fear that my letter would create a political stir, which I don't want it to do, so I'd love to have some ideas to help me get started :)

Day 30: Socks matching up... yeah it's awesome when that happens, but I've come to realize that getting a solo is just a part of life... lol

7/18- I'm thankful for 2 cars with no car payment! Something we've had for a while, and I know eventually we'll have a car payment again, but it's so nice right now to not have one.

Day 31: Time left in the meter... I rarely go anywhere that has parking meters. Usually if we're in a city with parking meters, Jason is driving, and I'm oblivious to time left or not..

7/19- SO thankful that I got to see my sister this weekend! I love her so much. She's seven years younger than me, and in many ways we're very different, but she is absolutely my best friend in the world.

Day 32: Crayons... I like the smell of crayons, but what's funny about this is my sister drives a Volkswagen Jetta, and it smells like crayons. I thought it was just her car, until I was talking to someone about it, and they also owned a Volkswagen. They told me that the glue that's used in Volkswagens smells like crayons. I don't know if that's true of newer cars, but the old ones I know for sure.

7/20- Today I'm thankful that we're actually getting rid of some of our puppies, and it seems like they're going to good homes. While I was gone this weekend Jason sold 5, and 2 more are spoken for. They were really starting to stress me out, so I'm glad something's happening with them.

Has anyone applied for their badge yet? I'm going to apply for mine today.

Shannon, I'm not sure what happened with yours, but I know I was behind a little bit, and some of the other girls might have been too.

I'll be happy when we get to the next page, I don't like seeing how selfish I am about fries every time I click on this thread... lol... and actually I did share some fries yesterday!
