Congratulations, Joyce!!!! I am so happy for you!!! It seems that the people who stress most over tests really do the best...so, I wasn't really worried about how you would do! I did pray for you though! Now, onward and upward. I would love to hear you play.

Okay, Day 19: My birthday is the same day as my mother's. We really didn't celebrate. If my dad was home on weekends (a traveling salesman) he would take her out, of course. We kids would try to make it nice for her; but, I think she was depressed and would ignore us. I did have a overnight party at my house for my 13th. We had toooo much fun! Last one I ever had. I always made a big deal for my kids and gkids. The gkids would have parties at our house and invite as many kids as they were years old. Pinatas and all. Rollerskating parties. Gma & Gpa spoiled them. Not.

On day 19 I was grateful for bringing dh home after 2nd and 3rd trips to ER.

Joyce, congratulations! I'm so happy for you, that's really quite an achievement.

Day 20: I'm thankful for my country, and all of the men and women, military or civilian, that fight so hard to defend our freedom. I one hundred percent agree with Shannon, that it is our duty as citizens of this country to continue to preserve the freedom that we have. I'm thankful for our freedom given to us by God, and not our government.

Day 20: I really don't smack things to get them to start or stop whatever. Never have. I have been known to unplug things like dehumidifiers, fans, just about anything but the fridge or freezer. Sometimes the noise pollution just gets to me. When I try to Hi-5 an adult I usually miss. Embarrassing. But, yes, I can Hi-5 my dg-gd. We connect every time. She is 1 1/2.

Today I am, of course, grateful for the USA and the men and women who keep it free for all of us. I am also grateful for the safe birth of my first great-grandson Cameron James.
I just couldn't resist.

Day 21: This one I can definitely relate to, getting a string of green lights in a row. It happened just the other night when I was hurrying to the airport to meet hubby returning home from Chicago. Thirty miles one way. Half of it is back, country roads with nothing to interfere with the drive except an occasional deer or other nocturnal creature getting caught in the headlights and two easy stop signs.
The remaining half of the trip is through towns, shopping centers and highway. This leg must have at minimum 20 lights in a five mile stretch. For once I hit all but 3 green lights! It's impossible to hit them all, but getting that many was incredible!

Today I am having a hard time being thankful for anything as I have been feeling "off" since Friday night with headache, nausea and general malaise. Barely got any sleep at all last night and it is still here today. Suppose I should be thankful it isn't something worse and I know it will soon pass, hopefully. That's it, I am thankful it isn't worse than it already is. What downer#128550; (sad face)

Judith - congratulations! He is adorable!!!!

Day 21: I can actually relate! Last night we were praying for green lights, as we were going through downtown Charleston, with a storm blowing in, and people partying all over the place, just wanting to get to the ER! My 2 yo - Aly - has small bowel intussusception - where part of it has telescoped into itself. Today I am grateful that as of right now it does not require surgery, but rather we are waiting it out with lots of prayer!

Thank you, Shannon and Joyce. (I worked so hard on that one. lol) Momma is my favorite youngest dgd Elizabeth Iris.

Day 21: Yes, I can relate to the string of green lights too. Especially during our recent midnight trip to ER. I don't think we had any red lights to stop us. Sometimes in the middle of the day going through town is when I really notice it. Then, I am almost sure it is pure luck. Awesome!

Today I am grateful that I was able to rescue the yarrow, columbine, another blueberry bush and several more herbs from the wild patch (garden). All are safe in pots for now. A few new herbs were added.

Day 22: Oh what a feeling! Push that button and the elevator doors open like magic, love it. Usually I take the stairs because it is quicker, but once in a while those stairs seem to be just a few too many to climb.

Today: I am thrilled, thankful and excited that our motor-home is finally back on the road! Now we can take the grands on a camp out. We bought the thing in 2011, in CA, drove it home to CT and it has been sitting in the backyard ever since. Too many other things needed doing before we could enjoy our downsized "home" again.

Day 22: Yes, I love an elevator door that opens immediately. Luckily, our hospital elevators are plenty. I don't remember having to wait long at all.

Today I am grateful already for a soft rain on the herbs I planted yesterday.

Judith, what a sweet little guy!

Green lights and elevators that open right away... who doesn't love that?

Day 21: I'm thankful for my cousins coming out to Indiana to celebrate the fourth of July with us! We had so much fun together.

Day 22: I'm thankful for vacuums! I woke up to flying ants all over the windows this morning. Yuck. So I just vacuumed them up. I really do love vacuuming though. It's instant gratification when cleaning.

Day 23: Bakery Air..... love it! I love the aroma of yeast breads baking; and how my mouth waters when I am at a bakery early in the day while they are still baking.... yum .... I want it all!

Today, I am grateful that my grandmother taught me how to create the bakery sensation in my own kitchen.... so is my husband.

You're so funny Kathleen!
Day 23: Yes, I love the smell of a bakery! I have never made croissants, or those tiny cocktail buns. So those are my luxury purchases. I've wondered too if workers get tired of the early schedule. I've always imagined they would be so proud of their product.

Today I am grateful that DH has begun to eat tiny meals again. He has been on only liquids since a week ago Sunday. He was afraid to eat in case the pain would return. Whew!

Judith, your poor hubby. I feel his pain, literally. I went through it just a few years ago. Mine began many years ago as a nagging, little pain in my ack that no one could diagnose. Then suddenly, one night it turned into the worst back pain ever! Even worse than back labor. Rushed to the er, then surgery..... Everyone I know who have gone through the "preliminary" pains has ended up with the surgery, it is inevitable. BUT Don't worry, surgery is a breeze, 4 tiny holes, and no recovery pain. Awesome.

Day 23: Bakery smells are the best. In keeping with that theme, I'm thankful for my bread machine! There is a lot of money saved in using a bread machine to make all your bread, and the house smells awesome!

I agree Erin!!! I'm SO thankful for my bread machine. For those busy days when I just don't have time to make anything, I put it on delay the night before and you wake up to a delicious aroma :)

Erin, yes, Cameron is the sweetest, little guy. Now we have 1 son, 1 grandson and 1 g-grandson.

Kathleen, thank you for your comment for DH. Yes, I think this is only the first of these warnings. Friday, he will have a Disada Scan. They will give him a dye and then will read the results. I really don't expect them to find anything. I agree that the surgery is not bad now. I was able to observe the surgery in a nursing clinical.

Day 23: I worked for some years in the 70's at City Hall. It was a beautiful old building on a very busy street. In those days platform heels were the rage. I left for my hour lunch one noon. Out the front doors I went, tripped, and fell tripped, fell, rolled down about 9 cement steps onto the sidewalk. Have no idea how many people saw that. I wasn't hurt, except for pride. I picked myself up, deciding if I had died I had nothing to wear to my own funeral. I walked across the street to a women's dress shop and purchased a black dress. I've had many more trips (broken collar bone, weak ankles). That was my most memorable.

Today, I am grateful that for a change I am not worrying about any of my kids, or gkids. Awesome.

Now, I want a bread machine.

Day 23: Tripping - well, I remember in Gr.4 once that my jean skirt fell to the floor while I walked up to the front of the class. I did have my tights on, but nobody saw me!! I was walking right up there!! That's the closest I've come to tripping.

Today I'm thankful for our little boat - we had a lovely family time together on our boat :) Thankful for my family and the time we had together.

Day 23; Tripping... this seems to have become a part of my life in the past few years. It is like my feet have a mind of their own. I want to go up... they go down. I want to walk, they choose to stay put. It is worse when I want to go down stairs one step at a time, and they decide to skip a few! Naturally you know where I end up, or down.... on the floor. Walking on side-walks and parking lots is nerve-wracking since there is always a potential witness to spy when that wayward foot finds the one and only, 3 inch crack in the pavement and refuses to step over it. ugh.

Thankful that I haven't broken any bones after three falls down the stairs! My last trip occurred I was going out the kitchen door, only 1 step and I missed it! Thank goodness there were two doorknobs available to help keep me from landing on the cement. Nope, can't call me "Gracie graceful".

Day 24: this one made me laugh :) I can't say I'm much of a fries eater, but it was a very interesting philosophy regarding the policy he outlayed :)

Today I'm thankful for tea parties with my daughter :) We had a lovely tea together, and made a memory to last a lifetime.

Day 24: I love fries. I don't mind sharing. Hmmm..can't imagine spending so much time planning which fry I could take from someone else's plate.

Today I am grateful for feeling well enough to rescue a few more plants from my chaos. Monarda (a beautiful red variety), daisies, single and double babies breath.

Day 24: I like fries. Skinny ones, stubby ones, potato slabs.... don't mind sharing them either. But, I can't imagine spending time calculating a sneak attack on someone's plate to get to their fries. I am with Judith on this one.

today: grateful that my garden is producing better than ever, and we may get to put up enough vegetables and meat to last until next year's harvest. for me, security means having enough food put away to last us one year.
