Day 16: I cannot relate to the few of these either. But now that I think about it, I do still have a tiny, crank, music box on a bracelet I received from an ex-fiance back in 1969 while he was in Viet Nam.

I am also having a hard time thinking of things to be thankful for every day. I suppose today I, and every day, I am grateful to still be here to enjoy it.

Day 16: I've never gotten anything from someone else to keep to be honest. I only have things my husband gave me.

Thankful for...swimming lessons for the kiddos! They are doing great and love it :) We are going for 2 weeks - this was their second day.

Day 17: Okay I 've decided thus far the author is selfish and self-centered, lol. But I am enjoying finding things to be grateful for!

Today I am grateful for a passing storm we got last night! It didn't drop much rain, but some is better than none! I am a horrible gardner and hardly ever water my plants, so the fact that it rained is a huge blessing to my much neglected garden!

Day 17 First of all picking anything off another's plate is so rude... Second I strongly dislike nachos, so why anyone would feel a need to sneak one is beyond the reach of my understanding. Lobster on the other hand ... mmmmm

It rained again last night. I am grateful that most of the rains have been coming at night, and leave us a decent day. It also waters the garden .... yesss!

Day 16: I am thinking that this author is an 80's girl. When I was a teen I think I was given a couple of poems from guys who were so proud of what they had written and wanted to share with me. How brave and how sweet. They would have been called "Emo" today. I know I kept them for a long time..but, haven't a clue where they ended up. I do remember my daughter making mix tapes for herself, friends and boyfriends. Once in awhile I run into one while sorting through things. I recognized that list of songs from when the kids were growing up. We listened to them while working at the factory. Never made a mix tape myself.

I am grateful that I was able to help dgd prepare for her boyfriend's surprise b'day party. She was so excited, and her happiness just fills me.

Day 17: I remember sharing nachos with DH. I loved the cheese and he loved the hot peppers. I always left the peppers for him even though I liked them too.

Today I am grateful that it is a little cooler, I can work in the garden. I'm grateful too that I will pay my bills today and that will be off my mind. No stress about that for 2 more weeks. Awesome!

I think for the badge you are suppose to do 30 days... but then for the intermediate you do longer... if you want to join, here is my opinion/suggestion... get the book and start reading it... the entries are pretty short for the most part... you can catch up to where we are if you want, but then you can just start your own day number as far as how many days you have done it. does that make sense? you are suppose to read one entry a day, which is what we all generally comment on at first, and then write what we are individually thankful for.

Shannon, I can't relate to Day 16 either. I definitely got rid of it all. Also I agree with your suggestion to Sabrina. That sounds like a good idea.

You know, if you girls really want a great book about gratitude, you should read One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp. It's so good. It changed the way I pray.

Day 16: I'm thankful for breakfast for dinner. It's just awesome. Pancakes from scratch and bacon. I usually don't eat carbs, so this was an indulgence for me, and I loved it!

Day 17: I'm thankful for coffee. I'm specifically thankful for Starbucks French Roast coffee. I'm also thankful for a sunny day, and I hope there are more. I'm ready for summer! :)

Day 18 - Ummmm I guess I'm in the minority... never been to a concert!

Today I am thankful for fresh eggs! We are watching "our" chickens that we had to give to a friend a couple months back, for the next few weeks. It is a hassle with trying to get ready to move, as we have to drive over there to let them out in the morning, check on them during the day, and lock them up for the night each day, but oh the taste of their fresh dark orange yolk eggs - awesome!

Day 18 I have been to only one concert, back in 1965, and it was the Beach Boys. From what very little I remember there was no dark moment,no flashing lights.... none of what is seen in later concerts.

Today I am happy my DH business trip is at an end and he will be home tonight.

Day 18: I've been to lots of classical concerts/orchestras etc. and do enjoy them...

Today I'm thankful for all the beautiful people yesterday that attended our Canada Day party. We had so much fun, and lots of food to share which was super yummy!

Shannon - I kind of knew it wouldn't be like that, but it's a shame so many are having a hard time relating to the topics :(

I have been to many concerts of all kinds. Most I loved, some... not so much. One of my favorites was Elvis Costello at the Chicago Theatre... I can't remember the year. 2001... or 2002 maybe.

Day 18: Today I am thankful for my kids imaginations. They bug me for their leapsters every once in a while (which I consider in the video game category because it's a screen, even though it's educational, these are controlled substance here) but mostly they draw (all the time!), play outside, play with their toys, dress up, that kind of thing. They have hilarious imaginations... and because two of them are boys close in age... sometimes gross... lol!

Day 18: I guess I can relate to concerts. I love all kinds of music, and have been to many concerts. Rock concerts were part of my life style in the late '60's and early '70's. My first husband was a person who helped make arrangements for the bands. Not as a roadie. He would find things for them to do after concerts. A few times I ended up cooking for some. DH made some stage costumes for a couple of bands. (Many nights sewing until dawn) ugh! My favorite was a concert with Traffic and Joe Cocker. We were down center/front when a fellow came into our row and sat next to me to watch Traffic. Jethro Tull and his electric flute were wonderful! I didn't know the fellow next to me; but, after Traffic finished their set this fellow got up and left. I thought he was with the band. Oh, yeah...it was Joe Cocker. I still laugh at that one. Tom Shipley of Brewer & Shipley, "One Toke Over The Line" fame took our engagement photo. Ha! Obviously, I just took a little trip down memory lane.

Today I am grateful that after a midnight trip to ER with DH he was returned home by 2:30 am. Gall bladder attack out of the blue. He's feeling much better and is catching up on sleep.

Day 19: Nope... cannot relate to this one either! My birthday has never really been celebrated! Not growing up and not since I was married! I use to do themed parties for my kids, but have strayed away from that too... their desire (and our too) is to do something as a family... so we go on a "field trip" for their birthday, and they get to pick whatever they want for their birthday breakfast and dinner (we do not usually eat lunch).

Today I am thankful for long weekends :) Hubby had off yesterday and today! While it would have been lovely to go camping or something fun as a family, we are still enjoying our time together getting done. Extra days with hubby home... awesome!

Day 19 Same here Shannon. I had a birthday party when I turned 25, but I was the the who threw it. I always made certain to celebrate the ex's and the kids birthdays however. My DH never forgets my day, but we have outgrown any need for a party.

Today I am thankful that my hubby will not interrupt our vacation by continuing his business trip on Monday! #128522;

Day 19: I remember when I was in my teens and planned my own parties that weekends definitely were something special to have a birthday on. Now, I don't mind if it's a weekday...as long as it's not a Monday so I'm not teaching :) I do love birthday's and really enjoy planning birthday's for each of the kids. This year we let the kids choose the theme - we got pig, cow and chicken and my husband chose cow. I then made a cake based on their theme, and for their "party" we decorated the house and they got to choose where they wanted to go for dinner as a family They also get to choose an activity - such as swimming etc that we will do as a family.

I'm thankful for our little guinea keets we got yesterday! Our farm is slowly but surely being built up to what it was before we moved across the country :)

I love birthdays. We celebrate them always. My husband thinks I'm crazy. His family never did birthdays like mine did. We always go out with friends for my birthday and his. We always have birthday parties for our kids birthdays with all of the family there, and some friends.

Day 19: I'm thankful for Costco! Lol. That's kind of a silly one, but I really love that store, and I'm so glad that Fort Wayne has one. It's only been there for almost 2 years (October) and I love it! :)

Day 20 Smacking electronics to make them work.... Does that really work anymore? Not since solid state was invented I think. But it may still work for letting out frustration. I remember smacking the record playing in order to get a record to stop skipping, or the tv when the picture would begin to roll... ah yes, those were the days....

Today I am thankful for my garden. Each year I am amazed at how everything develops and all the food that we get from it. I began harvesting zucchini and summer squash this week.

Day 20: I seriously laughed out loud at this one... My hubby is a crew chief in the Air Force... which translates essentially to an airplane mechanic on the cargo planes (C-5 and C-17 are the ones he has worked on). The ongoing joke is if something doesn't work right, first you smack it.... and then you turn it off and then back on. Works like a charm ;) Oh and of course I read the reading to my kids today and they corrected the author... there is one type of bear - they think it is the grizzly bear, but sadly I have the book pt away to double check their memory, that you do punch in the nose to get it to go away! How crazy is that!?!? Personally, I do not want to try to figure out what kind of bear I am encountering - I just want to NOT encounter one ;)

Today, though perhaps it sounds cliche, I am thankful for our independence. Many have fought for this country, and continue to do so. I am thankful for each one of those individuals! As a nation we have the right... and responsibility... to make sure those people that lost their lives and even those that served but didn't, did not do so in vain, by protecting the freedoms they served our country to gain and preserve!

Day 20: I'm with Shannon and laughed out loud :) Just the other day my 4 year olds toothrush wasn't blinking (it blinks and stops at 1 minute to tell him he can stop brushing his teeth). Well, it wouldn't start blinking, so out of pure instinct he smacked it and it started. Quite humorous :)

Today I'm thankful for the exam mark I got back this morning - my final exam (EVER!) that makes me now qualified to teach advanced level pianists. I received First Class Honours with Distinction. This mark is incredibly hard to receive and I'm quite stunned that I received this highest level mark. The national average is honours, the next level is First Class Honours which in itself is hard to achieve, so I'm just absolutely stunned I got First Class Honours WITH DISTINCTION. All praise, honour and glory goes to the Lord who has equipped me and enabled me! Thank you to all who prayed for me during this process as well. I truly appreciated your prayers and thank God for each and every one of you.
