Good Lord! I've been called out! Yes we had a discussion about bra's at Miss Wilma's ... but they ASKED to see the one I was wearing!! Yes, I flashed a group of farmgirls in the early morning at breakfast! (There must be a 12 step program!) I have bodacious boobs and have since 13. Now my 14 year old has my blessing and I don't think I could have a reduction now. I always wanted one, but I don't want to freak her out about her size. Goodness knows a tall, thin, blonde, blue eyed girl with big boobs seems to be what plastic surgeons are all about and that is my Ivey. Of course she is a tomboy through and through! So, I took my 2 daughters and myself to one of those bra fitting joints. I have to say I am a believer in proper fitting bras for us bouncy girls! Of course those stinkin' bras were $75 - $80 a piece!!!!! So we bought one each for each girl (they have regular size cups) and headed to Target to buy the others!! Mine still need to be made by "Omar the Tent Maker"!

OH Linda ! I nearly fell off my chair laughing at your post.. You are tooo funny.. I was just curious enough to see what kind of posts I'd get answering my question... You girls made my day! Isn't it funny how such a everyday quirey can sound so silly and yet really is a serious question? Thank You all for seeing the humor in this question as I did...I almost didn't post it!

Cheryl, this has sure been a fun question. I went to town this a.m. and wore my "dress up" bra. Came home and took it off. A lot of ladies my age are getting face lifts. Not me. I have always said if I have surgery I would have a boob job. Not to have perkey boobs but to get them up off my belly. OK, I'll take some lipo suction off the bellie too. |

It is so true that being fitted for a bra makes all the difference. What I thought was my regular size was totally wrong. When I got fitted my chest size actually went down and the cup size went up (like I needed that). The lady also said that the back of your bra - if fitted properly - should be in the middle of your back. I never have riding up or strap problems when I wear the good bra. But I hate it because I just hate bras in general!

Kay, that is so true! Hated the riding up! I thought I was a 38 DD. Oh, no. After a fitting I found out I was a 34 GG!! As in Good God those cups are big! I could carry children around in those cups! My husband just said, "wow". lol

You all know, there is a song to go with this topic... Do your boobs hang low? Do they wobble to and fro? Can you tie them in a knot? Can you tie them in a bow? Do you have to roll them up to fit them in your cup...
Sadly my answer is yes to all of the above. Janneane |

I have a bunch too. I used to work in the intimate apparel section at Daytons (now Macy's) I love pretty undies too, but only when I have someone special to wear them for.
Most days I wear boring old nude or white colored bras by Bali. Some are wired, some are not. I tend to wear the non wired with bulky sweaters or sweatshirts.
I think bras should be illegal. Actually, some men should wear them too. LOL
I am modest, so I feel it isn't right when I don't wear one around my son at home. If it were just me and my daughter, I probably won't care as much and that sucker would be off the second I walked through the door at night.

How funny Janneane! I wear Wacoal bras and they fit better than any others. Don't know if Oprah still says they're the best, but I like them. The off price stores, Steinmart here in NV has them for about half the normal $$$$ price. |

Ladies,
I just loved this post. It's been a hard month here in Maryland and this post is just what I needed. I have 4-all with underwire. Several years ago-Bali came out with a bra that had gel in the straps. I bought 2 and fell in love. No more straps digging into shoulders or falling off or whatever! Then, they stopped making them as did all the companies. My hubby did a little research and found that because of the gel, airplanes were banning this bra! Seems that if you could put gel in the straps you could also put some type of explosive in the straps as well. I thought he was kidding until I contacted several companies. And yep, he was right! And while we're on the subject of bras, does anyone remember the bras that snapped onto the girdle with the snap garters for your hose. My grandmother use to put on her "suit of armor" and I can remember my sister on one side and me on the other and my grandmother-we called her Bubbie doing this wild, ballet-like jumpin'-up-and-down move to stuff her body into this contraption. Everytime I think on this I get the giggles. Matter of fact, my sister and I usually ended up in giggles everytime she asked us for help. Sooooo glad we've moved away from the girdles-bras are bad enough!

OMG! You gals are so funny! I am blessed that even though I'm overweight I'm still pretty small. If I ever get back to my ideal weight, you won't even be able to find them.
I don't know how you all get anything done without hurting yourselves! My mom was a DD and she was always burning herself when she cooked (which wasn't often) or dipping them in sauces or boiling water. She had to pay major bucks for her bras, too. Holy cow, $80! I'd have a fit if I couldn't find one for $15 or less.

Oh my the bra talk is still on. Can we talk here? First I can't get that song out of my head , thank you Janneane. Second is the my personal problem with my bloulder holders. Its all about the right fitting bra that I can never seem to get. If it fits right it's not enough padding to cover, ahem hope I can say this, the nipple shows right through and if its to padded it makes em even bigger or worse yet wrinkles and the worst of the worst if one nipple is heading south and the other is up north. That is a very bad look. I'm always asking my sister when we are in town are my boobs even. If not I go hoisting em up, sometimes have to shake em around a bit. Sis has me covered.
I love to run but is weird to run the trails holding em with my arms crossed over my chest so I won't cause injury or knock myself silly.
There was a time growing up that bras made the breast look pointed in the 50's and 60's, gosh even in high school in the 70's. But now its the rounded look.
For our DD wedding this last May I wanted to look nice, still was able to wear a size 12 suit even after all the milk and cookies I had eatin. I wanted my top part to look more define,my bottom had a definition already "big" but my top it looked like I had one big boob. I wanted points. DD said points are not in and could poke somebodies eye out. I think she just wanted me to feel ok about my plight.
And how about those nursing bras, oh my goodness , I'm surprise they make em that big. Those contraptions with all the hardwear I bought for my dairy farm size boobs was scary. I gave up on those with my first born. Baby would have starved if I took the time to undo all the hooks, ribbons and bows. I went ahead and took the risk of wet shirts and timely nursing to avoid the wet t-shirt look.
Yea the bra is my friend in a confined sort of way. I wear big swearshirts tho, out of sight, out of mind.

Oh, my gosh, you are all cracking me up!! I have two bras. I have had them forever because I hate shopping for bras. From going to the store to pick them out, to having the evil bra-fitter at Penny's who always brings me the bras with the shortest straps so I have to hoist my boobs up into them, and then when they are on I cannot breathe, or the ones that make me look "poiny". Hello? Are you serious? Big, pointy boobs do not look attractive. They look like the nose cones from twin rocket ships. Dana- Did you go to Intimacy at Phipp's? I have decided that will be the next place I go for bras. I know they are expensive, but I guess you could say that "An arm and a leg is worth two in the cups." :)

Three bras for the job, five sportsbras for working on the property. Assorted underwear, almost all Jockey brand (I should be a stockowner from all that I've bought over the years!). I love the look of matched sets, but can't be bothered to keep track

Karin - I did go to Intimacy. They don't even touch you. Just look you up and down, naked I might add, and then return with bras. I took my girls to a local shop that filts bras. Might be worth a look to see if you have any near you. Phipp's annoys me! The cost is still the same!

Chickabella... I am not sure you really think you should be a stockowner in Jockey . Maidenform, Bali or any other company with todays' market woes! Isn't it Mr Jockey? Is there a MRS? bet she gets her bras cheap! Maybe he lives next to Joe sixpack...

Ok, I have to ad my 2cents worth. I was with Dana when we had the "big" discusion. I too belive in the 80.00 bra. I have my two they are expensive but they last a long time. When you are carrying around a couple of bowling balls good support is a must. My hubby thinks I could turn them over and plant something. Dana you are such a kick. I sure enjoyed your conversations over the weekend.
