Howdy! I’ve been a member of the farm girl sisterhood for a little over a year now but have never posted or interacted on the forums. I figured it was time to socialize and chat with my fellow farm girls! I have a lot of catching up to do in terms of badge earning, and I’ve decided to start with my Wild Game badge. I’m almost ready to start applying for all three levels! I’ve gone a little out of order, but I have fulfilled all the requirements and am excited to apply for the badge. My favorite part has been successfully hunting and processing my very first deer! I plan on using as much of the deer as possible! Anyone else working on this badge or have done it in the past? Would love to hear yalls stories on your progress!

Congratulations on your first deer and accomplishing all 3 levels of the badge. Isthat a crossbow beside you? Nice deer there. Enjoy the fruits of your labor!

It is a crossbow!! It was archery season so no guns allowed! (However axis can be hunted year round with any weapon, I prefer the crossbow!) |

My husband rarely uses a gun when hunting. Uses a bow mostly. When he lost part of his index finger he wasn't sure how he would manage it but he is fine with it now. He is happy to go this year. Hopefully we will have venison in the freezer soon!

Hi, Cordelia! so glad that you have decided to share! I have only help to process an elk, but I felt so empowered by the experience! My Sister shot him with a compound bow on her property in Oregon! I have also harvested chickens with her. Now I know that my family will never be hungry! My Husband is a great shot and I can do the processing! Congratulations on your badges!
