In early July we noticed some wild turkeys walking through our yard. It was a mom and 3 babies. Over the weeks they would visit occasionally and over time I noticed the mom was down to 2 babies and now she only has 1. The last 2 weeks I have started to see them more frequently. Then this morning I seen them nesting in our very sadly grown corn lol! I think we have officially inherited some turkeys! They are more than welcome to join our small farm and eat the corn!

We had some turkey babies who got lost or something happened to their moms. They were tiny and found their way into our chicken yard. They were small enough to hop through the fencing. They would go in and out until they were too big. They would go in at night when we let the chickens in for the night and they would go out with them in the morning. As they grew one of them just left and never came back. The other would roost in the tree above the chicken run. Both males. There were turkeys that came into the yard the next year and he would go out to them but always come back. I guess he found his tribe one day because he left with them and didn't return. It was sure fun watching him grow up though.

Denise, that is so neat! I feel like our situation may be a little similar. I don't think they will stick around forever, but it sure has been fun watching the babies grow and seeing them around our yard. They haven't been back since Wednesday morning. I discovered they are standard bronze turkeys. I did leave them some carrots in the corn since it says they like carrots as well. Hopefully they visit again soon.

That's awesome! We have some wild turkeys around here but they usually aren't that close to the barn.

Heather, these turkeys are brave. They are just fine being there when my dogs are out. The dogs don't mind them either.
I agree Winnie. It's been a neat opportunity.
