Red pepper flakes sound like it might work. We used to sprinkle black pepper on and around our garbage cans to keep the neighbors dogs out.

Sara, that is good to know. I keep getting a stray cat in my garden. I am going to try this and see if it works.

I have resisted the urge to order bulbs for fall planting for weeks but today I couldn't resist the free shipping offer, so I ordered a new variety of daffodils bulbs to be delivered in early to mid Oct. They will be planted in one of my raised round galvanized tubs. The ten bulbs should be enough to make a showing in the spring.

All that rain we had 5 days in a row made my tipsy pot flowers grow so big you can't see the pots now.
After Mama birds babies flew out of the nest, I moved my pot of tiny pink flowers, I forget what they are called,to the back patio to get some sun and it just quadrupled in size!

Connie, your flowers are beautiful. Mine never bounced back after a rain, too much damage had been done by the summer heat, so I got rid of them. The daffodils I ordered are called Modern Art and are the frilly kind. Yellow/orange.

I ordered them from www.edenbrothers.com

I have ordered from them for the last couple of years and have been happy with them.

Connie, when you go to their site click on bulbs; then new bulbs.

Those are beautiful, Connie. Must confess I ordered the first ones I came to; I liked them that much. One of the reasons I shop with Eden Brothers is I find their website easy to use.

Very pretty. My gardens are cleaned out. The garlic is planted. Sit back and relax time.........well not so much, but we will eventually. Wood to cut, cows to move, plowing to do.

Oh, my Michelle I need to sit down and rest after hearing what is on your to-do list.

I do want to add a couple of yellow mums this fall; one for the front porch and one for the deck. Also, one pot of three yellow pansies for my deck. Don't know why but yellow mums or pansies are hard to find in Paris.

Connie, I guess you add potting soil and a seed or two into a blown-out eggshell. Let me know how it turns out. I have never had any luck with blowing out an eggshell. It is a neat idea.
