Connie, that is a neat idea, but does seem like a lot of work. I am curious to see how they turn out for you.

Krista,I'm just gonna try about 6, after my initial excitement, I see it will be tedious work! It is a great idea, just to set the whole Kit and Kaboodle in the ground or pot! Connie |

Connie, I'm late seeing your post. Happy you are pleased with your bulbs.
The garlic I planted on Oct 16 has spouted because of the 80s temps during the day and 60s at night. The leaves are falling so soon they will be covered and protected if it ever cools down. During the winter I can cut the green garlic spouts for cooking, a mild garlic flavor. I take a couple of inches off the spouts as I need them.

Yay! Garlic sprouted! My Garlic Chives loves the cold air unless it's just waaay cold. It bounces right back as it warms up. I cut it all the way down several times year. Connie |

Today I snipped the tips of my garlic spouts for a dish I made for lunch. With only my herbs still green it was good to have something else to cut and use in cooking. Green garlic as I tend to think of it has a mild garlic flavor.

I planted 50 garlic cloves. Some have started to sprout. My husband is hoping some will flower as he loves the scapes.

Tara I planted hard neck garlic so I should have plenty of scapes come early summer to preserve in olive oil.
