Krista,I'm just gonna try about 6, after my initial excitement, I see it will be tedious work!
It is a great idea,just to set the whole Kit and Kaboodle in the ground or pot!

Connie, I'm late seeing your post. Happy you are pleased with your bulbs.

The garlic I planted on Oct 16 has spouted because of the 80s temps during the day and 60s at night. The leaves are falling so soon they will be covered and protected if it ever cools down. During the winter I can cut the green garlic spouts for cooking, a mild garlic flavor. I take a couple of inches off the spouts as I need them.

Yay! Garlic sprouted! My Garlic Chives loves the cold air unless it's just waaay cold. It bounces right back as it warms up.
I cut it all the way down several times year.
