We are still slow to bloom over here where I live.. but... I think in another 3weeks everything will start popping!! and then I will post pictures of my garden babies...
In the meantime I will have a glass of wine and enjoy all of your garden photos...

Thank you Connie. I think I'll take a trip to the nursery and see if they have it. Any excuse to go to the nursery :-)

Another thunderstorm this morning with heavy rain. Not complaining because come Aug we will be glad our lakes are full when there's no rain in sight. I just came in from checking on my raised beds and the one teeny tiny tomato is still hanging on, not growing because of not enough sun. That's about to change, forecast days of sunshine ahead.

Almost everyday for the last 2 weeks.
Your right, come August, we will be glad!

Connie it does seem like Texas and TN are often on the same page when it comes to weather. A thunderstorm starts off in Texas, heads northeast and ends up in TN.

Well, rain is over with in my part of Texas, may see a shower now and then but we are in the beginning stages of a drought. I water my five tomatoes daily and when it gets hotter it could be twice a day. All five plants are loaded with different sizes of tomatoes, so I don't complain about the watering. I water in the cool of the morning and when I do water in the evening it will be when my house shades the raised beds. All plants need afternoon shade in Texas.

Daylight at six so I was out watering while the morning is cool. The orange milkweed I planted last year wintered over and is blooming. I planted the milkweed for monarch butterflies but haven't seen butterflies around any of my flowers this year. The other day I did see wee bees on my zinnias. My sister thinks they are cousins to bees but not a true bee. I have no idea what they are but glad to see them doing their best to pollinate my zinnias.

Sara -- They might be Mason bees. Very beneficial, I don't think they sting, and you can buy little houses for them.

My grandson (age 31) found a catterpillar and put it in a jar with some leaves. It made a crysalis and hatched out a beautiful swallowtail butterfly. He sent me a video of setting it free.

What a wonderful story about your grandson caring for the caterpillar then setting the butterfly free.

Might be Mason bees, I hope I get to see them again and again.

It was a good morning for me, I harvested two tomatoes, and had one with an avocado for breakfast. To enjoy the fruits of our labor is a very good thing.

Tara, on Wed we had a pop-up thunderstorm and it rained for about an hour. The first rain in almost three weeks. As we go into July and Aug we will see little or no rain, so I understand your need for rain.

Connie you were posting when I was. The thunderstorm came out of the northeast so it might have been the same one that hit you. I know you enjoyed your cherry tomatoes.

Tara -- Out west we go all summer without rain. Our last rain was at the beginning of May and I don't expect to see any until October.

Sara, I bet it was! I love cherry tomatoes! I had tons year before last. Last year, it was a battle with the horn worms!

Judith, wow, we should never complain about no rain!!

Connie --watch out, they are still around. I had a beautiful tomato bush growing in a pot. It was totally gone in two days flat. Very disappointing, not sure if I'll replant or not. I was so looking forward to tomatoes that taste real. Three years ago we had a yellow cherry tomato that grew up over a 6 foot fence and produced pounds of the sweetest fruit. It lasted two years and never had a hornworm.

Yesterday morning my tomato plants were showing signs of wilt so I went online to find out what I could do. One of the causes of wilt is plants too close together preventing good air flow. So I pruned the plants allowing for better air flow. This morning the plants no longer showed signs of wilt and happy to say more tomatoes are turning red. All the other flowers and herbs are holding their own in the oppressive heat.
