My FIL had hayfever. He always gets allergy flare up after spending 7 days mowing fields. He did test for covid and test was positive. If this stuff is so contagious, then why neither myself nor husband had any symptoms??? I havent been sick in 7 years and dont plan on every being sick.
What are people testing for? One should treat the symptoms. A shot of bourbon would help Vanessa

Tara -- Some people are fortunate and have no symptoms. My son and daughter had no symptoms but tested positive for 3 - 4 days.

My dh is dealing with shingles for the second time. He had it some years ago. Thankfully doctor says I won't get it since I've had chicken pox. He gave him some vitamins to take to help with the pain. We have an out of state wedding this weekend so I'm hoping he can get through it.

Lot next to us that was unbuild-able suddenly is.....
The builder has destroyed all the trees at our property line. They said oh there will be a buffer, we'll leave that and then it all came down. I am mad as a hornet.
What can I do? No money to buy shrubs to block out the neighbors. Moving is not an option now

Oh Tara I would be upset too! I have never understood why developers strip a beautiful forest, then add little tiny ornamental trees if any at all. So ridiculous.

A day hemmed in prayer is less likely to unravel.

When it rains it pours. My husband finally tested positive for Covid and I'm almost done and feeling fine. One of our students complained of back pain so we've been to the primary care and are now getting an xray.
I wish bourbon cured Covid, my husband would be fully protected!

Luckily I made a crockpot of chili with leftover brisket this morning so dinner is set.

I hope your student is alright Vanessa. Happy you are feeling better after your bout with COVID but sorry to hear your hubby has it now.
But I do wish you a happy day. Oh and the chili sounds great!

My sister brought two of her great grandchildren over and we visited on my side porch. Harley is in the third grade, and she is quite the young lady. Asha is in the first grade and all boy. I love this time of year when it's cool enough to sit on my side porch before it heats up in the afternoon.

Before Betty came over, I recovered the two whicker rockers' cushions. I'm ready now to spend time rocking on my side porch.

We''re going to get covid boosters today. I wanted to wait until the updated version was available. It really seems to be going around here now; my bff has had it four times. So far we are fortunate and have never had it probably because we seldom go anywhere.

We just finished a big pot of chili; meatloaf tonight.

Sat picked up a 20pound box of produce from a church pantry. I'm making fresh slaw from the 6# cabbage for tonight's dinner and a batch of freezer slaw. I'll use the carrots that came in box. Also in box sweet potatoes, new potatoes , 2 butternut squash and apples
Busy morning at my house. Rain coming in late in week, sure do need it. I may get a batch of crock pot applesauce canned on Fri

It thundered and rained during the night so today it'll only get to 80. Eighty high temps is good. With the cooler weather my first thoughts turn to wanting to plant something since all of my flowers didn't survive the summer heat. I didn't want anything else to take care of this year, so I ordered daffodils to plant in late Oct and enjoy next spring. My herbs are thriving and are so forgiving if I am late watering them. Sometimes I think they do better without a lot of fussing over them.

Sara, that is one thing about alot of herbs, they don't need alot of fussing and watering. And for me, the deer don't bother eating them.
Over the years I have cut back on alot of flower beds. I just could not keep up with the weeding, even with mulch the quack grass comes through.

Michelle, I think we learn as we go through the years that when part of our gardening becomes a troubling chore it's time to let that patch go.

All this talk about gardening got me thinking about how gardening and people are alike. Sometimes we hang on to a friendship that is long past the time we should let it go. One that pulls us down rather than lifts us up. One that takes and never gives. One that never changes and chooses to live in chaos. One that steals our peace of mind and heart.

Sara -- Amen to what you said. Gardening used to be my joy but no longer. My gardening now is pretty much confined to several half barrels of miscellaneous loved plants, some geraniums in pots, and a lot of succulents in pots on the porch. If I get down on the ground I cant get up again so my backyard is just a jungle now.

Friends get weeded out over the years too, by changing interests, moving far away, and death. Also the ones like you mentioned that I call the energy vampires.

Judith, I believe some people come in our lives for a season and reason then when the season or reason is over the person drifts out of our lives. Some forty years ago I remember reading about energy vampires that sap our being, hadn't thought about that in years.

Michelle, thanks for the compliment. Must say wisdom often comes from learning from our mistakes, I know that's how it has been for me.

It's cooler today and shadows are getting longer, love to watch the shadows as they creep across the yard, oh, happy fall.

That was a rough few days with no power. I try to be prepared for a power outage. We had plenty of food, water, medicines and alcohol. We had a gas generator and used it a few hours here and there to keep freezer running. All our frozen food survived. No trees on house, no damage to land. A few trees down in the very back but they don't bother any structure. Neighbors had trees on homes. The tall pine trees, those have always bothered me-too top heavy. We asked out builder to take down all the tall pine trees when building 2 years ago Not fun trying to find petrol for generator. But we did and will but more gas cans when funds allow. I know local media causes people to panic and I know social media eggs it on. I listened to my portable radio for real information. Upstate SC power in real trouble when another storm comes thru.
We met neighbors didnt know lived here. There is a neighborhood get together this weekend. Something fun to do and chance to get out of house.

Today's good mood brought to you by a lot of coffee!!!

Tara, so happy you and your family are safe with no damage. I have good friends in Asheville, NC in the mountains that I have not been able to hear from them. Praying they are all okay.

Tara, I’m glad you weathered the storm safely. It’s times like this that neighbors can get together and help each other can help pull a neighborhood together.
