Alright, farmgirls, I got what may be a bright idea, I dunno...
At our house, we committed ourselves to a carbon-free Earth Day, so I'm outside hanging laundry on a beautiful April afternoon. (Thank goodness the weather is finally ready for laundry!) Just enjoying the sun and the breeze, grateful that we have a good old-fashioned clothesline to save energy and infuse our laundry with light and outdoorsy goodness. Now, two of the items hanging on my clothesline to dry are dishcloths made by farmgirls friends in conjunction with MJF swaps. So I've got farmgirl swaps, Gaia, and clothespins on my mind. When I reach into my (empty) clothespin container, it hits me:
Who wants to do a clothespin swap?
Clothespins are cheap and can easily be transformed into fun objects. I've already got some with bees, ladybugs, etc. on 'em. (See my blog later today for more on them...)
Okay! Here's the official list:
Single Round Participants--SHIPPED!
A.k.a. farmgirls making 18 clothespins, getting a mix of 18--three from each participant--back:
Kim Aunt George EmmJay Buttercup Huckelberrywine KitchenWitch(X3)
Double Round Participants -- SHIPPED!
Or farmgirls making 36 clothespins and getting a mix of 36 back again:
smoothiejuice I & II katmom BotanicalBath BlueWrenn Huckelberrywine KitchenWitch
Type: I think either the hinged wooden pins or the solid, unhinged wood ones are fine--whatever works best for your creative idea! They work equally well on the line in my experience.
Deadline: Please plan to ship your clothespins to me so that they arrive no later than June 15th. That way I can ship them so we can all have our new clothespins on hand for the summer solstice.
Live joyfully, deliberately, simply, abundantly.

Alright now, I can see you all out there, lurking....
Is there not one farmgirl with some beads, some glue, some paint, and some wooden clothespins who wants in on this?
Live joyfully, deliberately, simply, abundantly.

Everytime I click on your blog link I get a thousand pop ups and a page about religion but no pictures of clothespins. Is the link right?

(Click on the link for her blog (www.accidentalmiracles.blogspot.com) and you'll see what she's talking about. The clothespins aren't up yet, but there is a lovely tribute to Mother Earth!)
Kristina, I think it's a GREAT idea! But I have no clothesline right now. Isn't that terrible? We had one at the old house, but we've been hemming and hawing about the best way to put one in here for almost three years now. Maybe this is just what I need to get me going?
What are you thinking on timing for this one?
Love your ideas!

the link worked for me but my computer is set to kill pop ups and not let them happen. So I didn't and would see any thing like that. I know it was the right sight as I saw an item in my home that me and my little girls just love that Kitchenwitch made for us. But I didn't see clothes pins. I think I might like to do this. I have a hugh tin ful of vintage old round clothes pins some flat ones too that are all one piece no hinges is that correct.
i went to the sccident miracles one.
have a lovely day and may God bless you and keep you safe my blog http://sunshinescreations.blogspot.com my web stores www.sunshines.etsy.com and http://vintagethreads.etsy.com |

Bless you, bless you, bless you for saying something!
It was wrong! Typo. My bad. Sorry....
So....
Who's in?
I figure if we each buy a cheap bag of clothespins, dress them up, and share them with our farmgirl friends just in time for summer clothesline drying, we should be in good shape. Clothespins can be as simple as a polka dot paint job or as elaborate as the bees I received from a friend. (Again, see the CORRECT blog for pics... Anyone who can't type their own blog name can't be expected to know how to post a pic here, right? ) I would think a written word--peace, harmony, etc. on a clothespin would be a wonderful addition, too.
Anyhoo, assuming that seeing pics of cute clothespins without having maniacal pop-ups or pages linking you to fanatical religious websites tickles you, jump in--we'll need to make a decent sized group (or at least make a handful each...) in order to make this worth.
EmmJay, if nothing else, you and I will swap colorful clothespins, eh?
Posting pics on the blog right now!

The pics are up now, sunshine! =) There are just three little ones a friend made for me, but the idea is limitless (at least it's keeping me occupied!)
I'm thinking clothespins shipped to me so they can hang on the line by solstice. That's almost a month and a half of crafting time... Whaddya think?
Catherine, I think this is just the thing to make your clothesline happen. And I'll tell you, my "fancy" clothespins (of which only the bees have survived) used to live all over my house--I even used them to clip my kitchen curtains up to a cable at one point. You can always find a use for them, or just save them for the line you'll eventually get...

Okay, we're nailing down details here:
Type: I think either the hinged wooden pins or the solid, unhinged wood ones are fine--whatever works best for your creative idea! They work equally well on the line in my experience.
Deadline: How is June 15th to have them to me? That way I can ship them so we can all have our new clothespins on hand for the summer solstice.
As far as I can tell we're at:
1. EmmJay 2. Sunshine 3. cmandle 4. auntgeorge 5. kim 6. levisgrammy 7. simpler1773 8. kitchenwitch
Who else would like to join us?
I'm traveling tomorrow and the following day one business, so I will be off the boards for a few days. I look forward to seeing where we are when I am able to check in again on Tuesday night!

Did you say how many we are to do.....Farmgirls, they make up pretty quick, so don't be shy about this one. Kitchenwitch....are we going to send a batch of them to you and are you going to mix them up so we get a few of everyones? Also, we probably need to send a self addressed and stamped return padded envelope to you so that you aren't having to pay bunches of postage. Actually we could send an address label and I think it is about $4 for everything a person can stuff into one of those priority boxes. They have two boxes with a flat rate, I think. I can run by the Post office to check today. A farmgirl can stuff alot of clothespins into one of those boxes!
Just a thought, G

$4.05 or 4.10 is the flat rate envelope at the post off you can get a card board one or a tyvek thin plastic like one. I think the cardboard one will work better as the pins are less likely to break

I don't have a clothesline either, but would love to trade. Maybe I'll make a "farmgirl clothesline" on the wall in my laundry room!
Count me in too! Kathy

Hey Kristina, add me to the list.... At Home Depot I bought a retractable clothes line (next to the spa for towel drying) & yes I do use it in the spring/summer to take advantage of Mother Natures Solar Dryer. I use to teach pre-school & I have a mess of ideas (old projects) that are right up my alley for the clothes pin decorating swap. tata-4-now

Oh, It looks like fun, count me in. I have never done a swap so you will have to hold my hand on this one! I like auntgeorge's ideas about mixing there up so we get a good variety. Will that work? Cindy
