Okay, I'd like to cross stitch an afghan for a friend of mine, using a sewing/quilting theme. I'm wondering if any of you have ideas, or patterns I might be able to use. Any thoughts?? :)

Blessings!

Do you have designs in mind - like floral, etc? When you say sewing/quilting does that mean the way you will construct the afghan, or the topic of your stitching?

I remember seeing a beautiful throw that had 12 squares cross-stitched with different floral wreaths, then pieced together like a quilt with blue fabric framing each square and a blue border all round. It was beautiful, but like a small quilt throw. Fabric used for stitching was a white 14 count aida. Backing could be whatever you wanted!

Hmm, I'll probably use one of those afghans that have the aida cloth sections specifically for cross stitch, and I'd like the theme, the subject of the stitching to be sewing/quilting.

Blessings,

Jodi

It sounds beautiful! I would be afraid of using such a work of art!

Okay, so I found a few assorted sewing-related patterns at 123stitch.com, so that's a good start. I've been thinking how to arrange/stitch them so they have a more organized look rather than just having several different designs thrown together on the afghan. So far I haven't come up with anything, though. And then there's the link to the afghan I was thinking of using...I like the weave design quite a bit. :) Still open to ideas!!
