Once a week my apartment-dwelling daughters, ages 23 & 25 come to my house to eat some "comfort food". They usually decide on what we will have according to their cravings, but last night I got to choose because we have a new addition to our family!! She is a 25 yr. old single mom of triplets who I have the privilege of being night nanny to. Jenny, has no family so we have adopted her.

So back to the menu - I "fixed" spicy shrimp 'n grits, a southern dish with gulf jumbo shrimp, tomatoes, peppers, onions and 2 cheeses. Accompanied by a baby greens salad with avocadoes & cherry tomatoes & a curry dressing,& rolls. no dessert - we're all "trying" to be good, but you wouldn't think so if you counted the number of rolls we ate. I also prepared a big pot of lemon chicken soup so the girls could take a container home for later. Of course, as soon as dinner was ready the triplets decided to tune up - I swear they smell all that good food and cry 'cause they can't have any. So it was a toss up as to what was best, the food or the 3 month old boys on each of our laps! Brought back lots of memories of when mine were tee tiny.

I loved reading what everyone else is having - like a peek through your kitchen window. Gives me new ideas to try & of course it makes you want the recipe. I'm sure there is a recipe exchange somewhere on the forum - I'm going to go hunt for it.

Tonight - scambled eggs or popcorn - can't decide.

Last night we had pork loin roast with garlic, sherry and molasses (can you tell I love garlic?), fresh steamed asparagus and a huge tossed salad.

Tonight: Chicken breasts cooked in lemon, parsley and a bit of vermouth with a sauce I made out of sugar free apricot preserves, dijon mustard and coconut milk. Hope it tastes better than last week's chicken experiment!! I think we have turnips and another salad.

Tonight we're having sopaipillas with refried beans and salsa. We'll roll some of them in cinnamon sugar for dessert. And husband is doing the cooking again! I feel like a lucky lady today. :-)

Where do we find out about the Farmgirl Connection cookbook?

Tonight we had freezer chili, fresh baked whole wheat bread & sliced apples. We spent the afternoon & evening till dark out in the garden with only a short break for dinner. It's starting to look like something out there. Yaaaa!

DaisyFarm put together the Farmgirl Connection cookbook last year - it's so great - I wish it was still available! I'm SURE that the farmgirls here will share recipes if you ask, however, Kristine...

Tonight it's lemon chicken soup from MJ's Farm Kitchen mag., a big green salad and some bread. Yum!!!

For lunch - leftovers or sandwiches - something quick and easy today.

XOXO, Libbie

We are having chili (made with ground turkey) with rice, cheese and sourdough bread! Salad on the side! Quick and easy, but all homemade!

Thursday night my parents are coming for dinner, so it will be Polish food which I will make tomorrow and pick some more up at the Polish deli. They make great Polish food here in Riverhead (which is called Polish Town).

Tonight I made my very first Bakeover! It was a thing of beauty, farmgirls. I threw in sausage, onion, snow peas, carrots, potatoes, red and green peppers- then mixed up the basic biscuit crust from the Lifebook. I have no bakeover pan so I improvised and baked the veg and crust in a non-stick cake pan. It was a big hit, when I told Fella that MaryJane invented it, he said "...I love MaryJane." Lol!

Tonight, we're having grilled tuna steaks with herbed aioli (herbs are fresh basil, fresh thyme, fresh tarragon, garlic) with boiled fingerling potatoes and a fresh salad for me (from the garden!!!!), and probably some other vege for dh because he won't eat "rabbit food".
