Denise your violet is very pretty. I used to keep a potted violet on my desk when I worked in an office. Sheila your embroidery is beautiful!!

So, I had to run into the Euro deli to pick up a few items... and on the counter sat a flower pot with a huge Violet plant in full bloom! we're talking "Violets on steroids! LOL! I meant to take a photo but in my haste, forgot.. So when I got home.. I had a long talk with my puny violet plant that is being lazy and not giving me flowers! Hopefully it got the message, and will give me some bloom...

Well I was watering my violets in their big pot, when I noticed that there was a violet on the ground quit aways from the pot of them. I thought one of them must have gotten ripped out, I went over to look and to my surprise it had seeded in the lawn. I am so happy for my little baby one on her/his own!

Shelia isn't it fun when a plant naturalizes. The heat and no rain for weeks did my wild violets that I had transplanted in. Hope some of them come back next year.

In the past I have announced the International Herb Society Herb of the Year. This year it is ginger.
Last year there was a discussion on having different Farmgirls pick the herb of the year each year. I think that is a great idea so if you want to choose the herb this year and keep up with the thread please do so. I will no longer be hosting the Herb of the Year thread.

Thank you, Sara, for selecting and announcing the herb of the year. I personally LOVE ginger. I will strive to celebrate ginger this year with you farmgirls and think of new ways to use it at home. I'm already a candied ginger sort of girl, ginger tumeric teas are a favorite of mine as well. I personally would like to experiment cooking with it, so, inspiried, I will look for a few new recipes that include ginger and venture out of my little box. Hugs!
