supper was beans and cornbread. She also said they could hardly wait until spring when the lambs quarters and dandelion leaves were coming up. Salad!!

Kathy, think your depression era ham sandwiches sound tasty...much better than potted meat!

Thank you Winnie! I received a wonderful package today with the perfect apron. I love it! The vintage post card will be perfect in a little frame in my kitchen and of course no home is complete without Mary Ellen's helpful hints. Many things I had forgotten, haha. I always can use more clothespins. The candy is history.
Enjoying the day |

Cristy, I hope you can find the clothespin apron useful. With the pockets, it can be useful for all sorts of tasks indoor and out. I hang a few things up on the clothesline and find my clothespin apron really helpful. But it would be good for gardening too. It was was fun putting together this swap for you and I hope you enjoy!

How many of your have eaten fried potato sandwiches? That was one of my favorites as a kid. Two slices of white bread spread with mustard, then when the thin slabs of potato are fried, put several on the bread and enjoy with a tall glass of ice cold milk! I enjoy one about once a month even now! Something about mustard and ice cold milk...yum!

Linda, yours is finished, in the bag and ready to go to the PO whenever I can get there! Hopefully tomorrow, but who knows. You see I have several swaps in the works and was hoping to make one post office stop, so we will see. Grace fried potatoes of any cut and mustard, are just fine. I remember summertime, when mother would call us in from our playing for lunch and rest time. She would have the card table set for three kids and one mother. By her plate was a deck of cards...often Ole Maid. Then she served our lunch. Usually we each got a nice pile of fried cubed potatoes and a nice dollop of mustard on the side. Now I know she fed us more but what I remember is those potatoes and mustard. Also a glass of ice cold milk. When I was a young mother we went to our friends hunting place one Friday evening so the guys could hunt the next morning. Now mind you we were roughing it. No running water, no toilet and we had to sleep on army cots. The only heat was an old tin wood stove/ heater. It was a big adventure! My friend asked me to peel and cut the potatoes to fry. I did what she said...using several large potatoes. When we sat down to eat her little girl who was two weeks younger than our little boy, said "dem ain't Fwench fies!" Then my friend said she always cut them like French fries. Since hunting season was late in the year the kids were 1 & 1/2 years old.

Christy, your fun swap arrived and oh how lovely!! You are a seamstress extraordinaire. I just love that little scrap dress on the hanger to use in closets for holding accessories and the reversible placemats are beautiful!! My new little bookmark is so cute and I love a good bookmark for a special book. The jolly ranchers candy were a treat and it has been a long time since I had any. Thank-you so much for being my swap partner and for making me these beautiful and cleaver things with the feedback cloth!

That is all so cute, Winnie. Is the dress a clothespin bag? That looks like one I've made before. And I love the placemats. Great job Christy.
