I'm looking for some new magazines to subscribe to. I just love magazines and tend to hoard them. Right now I get Woman's Day, Country Woman, Create and Decorate (mostly primitive crafts), Hallmark, and I'm going to subscribe to Real Simple after I'm done here. Just wondering what your favorites are. I'm always looking for something new. |

I get Midwest Living, Fine Gardening, and Chicago Gardening via subscription. I really enjoy all three. Midwest Living is loaded with recipes, gardening, vacation, decorating and craft ideas. The other two are gardening magazines. The nice thing about Fine Gardening is it gives planning ideas every month for all different parts of the country. It gives me lots to dream out!

I love magazines, but it is getting hard to find good ones. I really love primitive decorating, so I am always on the lookout for that. I get Mary Engelbreit (probably won't renew), Early American Life (love it) and Mercantile Gatherings (a small hand-made type mag, love it). I usually buy Country Sampler (great primitive homes), Country Living (hit and miss) and Country Home (getting crappier by the month). I also sometimes like Better Homes and Garden, Coastal Living and a few gardening magazines. I was going to buy the new Quilt Sampler magazine last nite, but it was $13! |

I used to subscribe to Country Living and Country Home in the 80's and 90's, still have some of them. That's when those magazines were really good. Lots of antiques and primitives. I have all the Christmas issues and reread them every year. Kitchensqueen, what is Natural Home? I haven't heard about that one. |

My favourite magazine is Harrowsmith Country Life - a canadian mag about living (or dreaming in my case!) the country/rural life. My other fav which is now out-of-print is Victoria. I still pick up copies at the local antique mall though ![](icons/icon_smile.gif)

I'm a magazine freak! I read Country Living, Country Home, House Beautiful, Traditional Home...those are my subscriptions. I sometimes buy, Real Simple, Blueprint, Lucky, or Vanity Fair (depending on who's on the cover) or anything that catches my eye...usually decorating or gardening magazines...and Martha Stewart, of course! |

My top three are Organic Gardening, Mother Earth News and Natural Home. Since money is tight I read them online or at the bookstore. I sometimes buy them but for the most part I can read and print the articles I want to keep off of the computer. And of course how could I forget Mary Jane's magazine! I always buy it. Jan, Natural Home has a vartity of "home" related topics in it. For instance I think it was the Jan. issue they had info on how to make a varity of different all natural paints for painting your walls. They also had a awesome article on eco-communities with websites to visit for futher research. They also showcase people have done a great job living off the grid or who have done a green remodeling on their home. In that same issue they also did a great job discussing wood burning heat for your home. Again with tons of websites to visit afterwards. I think that I like this one because along with the great articles they give you the info you need to do more research on your own allowing you to actually follow through with the change in your life. |

Jan, Blueprint in a spin-off magazine of Martha Stewart Living (like 'Good Food') that just came out last year. It's similar (I think) to 'Real Simple'. It's a lifestyle type magazine with articles on decorating, clothing, any type of tips on living. I haven't tried MaryJane's magazine yet. I'll have to check it out! |

I subscribe to Body + Soul, which has great self-care articles and to Natural Health, same. Mother Earth News is very good for ideas on small things that can be done to create big results in an effort to be more eco-friendly and energy efficient. Sometimes I pick up Herbs for Health, and any quilting magazines that catch my eye, which isn't often. I like Natural Home, but don't subscribe.
I tend to try out new magazines when I get a promo offer in the mail, usually from Publisher's Clearing House, or sometimes my airline mileage people send offers to redeem points and I try something new or different.
I have found; however, that I must really monitor what I get. Same with going to Home Shows and such. This is because magazines (and venues) create the "want factor".. I really only should be involved in what I NEED... Plus there are never enough hours in the day to even begin all the projects I've accumulated from magazines.
Another deterrant for me is if I don't subscribe, and find something interesting at the store, it makes me think twice about getting it because magazines are typically $6-7 a pop these days when not subscribed. Reading online is a good idea. I wish more would publish their full issues, rather than just selected features.
Humor is the prelude to faith and Laughter is the beginning of prayer. -- Reinhold Niebuhr

I only get two that I read cover to cover, and that's Equus and The Horse. I also get Country Living, Organic Gardening, Midwest Living (going to drop that one) and I pick up Mary Jane's magazine at the newsstand. I wish MJ's magazine was published more frequently, but then I guess it would lose some of it's booklike depth and quality. It's great eye candy. I also pick up Mother Earth News once in awhile. It's fun, but there isn't much I want in there anymore. An issue or two ago, hubby got on a bender about getting solar power for the house. I was irked at our last power bill (almost doubled) and I'm ready to support that. |

I subscribe to Country Living, This Old House and Countryside. I buy Hobby Farm Home and MJF. I've recently discovered and am going to subscribe to Old House Journal and Bark. I dropped Mother Earth News, Better Homes & Gardens, Martha Stewart and Country Home.

Besides my obsession with fabric, magazines run a close second. At the present I subscribe to Hobby Farm, Grit, Family Fun, and Romantic Homes. I also read Country Living, Country Home, Better Homes & Gardens, Kraft Food & Family, Garden Gate, Organic Gardening, Mother Earth News. Patricia (Utahfarmgirl) started bringing her magazines to our get togethers to share with us. She suggested that we all do that and recycle some of the stacks to other people. It is a great idea and gives me a chance to get new ones without spending any money. Also gets rid of some of the piles I have laying around.

Yes, Kim. I discovered Bark by accident. I found their anthology of dog stories, "Dog is my Copilot" in the library one day a couple of weeks ago. I just love it. I'm going to give my boss a subscription for his birthday this summer.

Hobby Farm Country Living--still like, but too many ads Country Living British Edition--LOVE Country Home--LOVE Cottage Living--LOVE Midwest Living--LOVE Bark Magazine--LOVE, but sometimes can't make it through a whole mag without bursting into tears (I worked in a shelter for several years and it really brings it all back) Atlantic Monthly--yes, yes, liberal liberal New Yorker--ditto, but love the stories.
Whew. I think that's it.

I like- Body & Soul Country Living- ours and the British edition (That's the better of the two!) Country Home Romantic Homes- sometimes I just need to look at really girly things! Sometimes Martha Stewart- just depends on what's in there MaryJane's Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion Progressive Farmer- I get them from my dad when he's finsihed Plus I wil pick up a few crafting mags as the mood hits me. I do like Cloth, Paper, Scissors. Cool stuff in there! You know, we all have very similar taste. :)
