Recently I made a whole slew of botanical bookmarks with recycled denim and they turned out lovely. I gave one to each participant in the monthly bookclub at our library in Moscow and they were a big hit. My beloved embroidery machine is at the sewing spa for some well deserved TLC. I really put it through its paces over the holidays. I'm cleaning and organizing the horrible mess I made in my studio while I wait for its return. Then I'll make another batch of them. Great project to work on -- the embroidery designers did an outstanding job on this program and the little free standing lace charms are over the top darling additions.

Very pretty Jean! I especially like the dangly leaf.

Yep. The back side of legs are usually in very good shape.

How many bookmarks do you usually get from a pair of jeans?

Three double-sided ones from each leg. If I want to fiddle with smaller pieces, I can get more. And, of course, I still have the rest of the jeans to play with for other projects.

I'm absolutely in love with this heart quilt pin cushion that was in the quilting article in the recent MJF magazine! Has anyone ever made one of these? It looks simple with the glass candlestick as the base. I'm going to give it a try. Should I just use typical stuffing for the inside or ???

I'd use wool scrap and pack it really tight.

I'm so excited about this lap quilt I'm making for my Mom. She absolutely loves roses and bought this fabric about 20 years ago! She didn't know what she was going to do with it but bought it because she loved it! She gave it to me last year when we were visiting because she can no longer sew. I got the idea to make my first quilt with it for her! (my Mom has dementia but was quite the crafty lady in her younger years!) I went to our local quilt shop today and the owner gave me a 2 hour private lesson to teach me how to cut it out to the pattern we chose. It's going to be beautiful! I'm so excited!

Jennifer, I love your fabrics! Your mom is going to love the quilt :). I remember the large, overall floral one from back in the day. I had something made from it.

I'm working on UFOs, and a new project my husband just asked me to make - 2 draft dodgers for the patio and front doors.

How exciting Jennifer! Your mom will just love it! I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Linda, with how cold it has been here lately I really want to make some of them myself.

Marie, your card is looking cute.

I created this box card today. My first one like this. It was a learning process but am pleased with how it turned out. It will fold flat and fit into an A2 sized envelope. The second picture gives an idea of the dimension of the card. :)
