                      | Heather. Nope. I put a piece of sticky stabilizer in my metallic hoop. Ran the placement stitch and then cut away the paper topping from the stabilizer inside that line. Stuck the card (cardstock or thick watercolor paper) on that and stitched. The design can't be too dense or it will rip the paper card. Cut away the stabilizer close to the design. Then I had a stack of gelli prints so I just cut a piece to size and glued it over the back side of the embroidery so it would look neat. Too cool. hugs,
 jean

                      | My husband's winter coat has many problems which, to his chagrin, I am working on slowly to make sure they are complete and look good.

Both pockets were destroyed. I layered two pieces of pocket fabric with a piece of stabilizer to make them more durable.

The coat has significant damage to its lining. This should not be too difficult to repair.

These will probably be the hardest to fix and make look attractive. I have decided to convert the buttonholes into bound buttonholes and place felt patches under the buttons. It should look nice.

                      | Oh my goodness, Marie, what an ambitious project. I could never do something like that. Please be sure to send a photo of your final buttonhole treatment. I'll be very curious to see how that turns out.

                      | Jean - I'll have to look into that sticky stuff. I'm not sure this is something I could do on my machine - I don't know about the placement stitch either. I'm guessing you have a much nicer machine than I do!
Marie - I agree with Jean - that looks like a project I would not tackle LOL! I'm interested in how the button holes turn out too. Sounds like it'll be neat!

                      | Heather - the cards are easy peasy. The stabilizer is called "Sticky Solvy" and the placement stitch is sewn on the stabilizer only not the card so you know where to place the card. You could tape the card in place if you didn't have any "sticky". Most important is to use a size 11 or 12 needle - nothing larger. Tell me what sewing machine you have and I'll let you know if you can do this OK. It really doesn't require anything fancy, just basic embroidery and can even be done if you only have a 4x4 hoop.

                      | Ok, kinda know where I am going with this, going to be approximately 32 x 32... Just struggling with what to do for the base, use a pale-light lime green, or aqua or very pale pink??? White is the 'safe' color but it looks so plain... What to do, what to do... Plus I need to add binding which I want to complement one of the med or dark colors, ..
 Any thoughts?

                      | Purple!!! I think pink and purple would go great together. (I'm picturing a lighter purple in my head but sometimes what I picture in my head doesn't look the best in reality LOL!)

                      | How about violet. It is slightly redder than purple and adjacent to pink. Something between Fushia and Purple.

                      | Oh wowzers, I never thought about purple... I plan to drive into town this Friday, and will take the sewn one with me to match up with a suitable base fabric...
Half the fun of sewing is picking out just the right fabric. :>)

                      | Debbie, most likely, I will hit the "Quilt Barn or Rebels Fabric(if they are still around),, several shops had closed down due to COVID.. I could go to JoAnns and Hobby Lobby,,
I do buy fabric on-line, but for this, I need to bring a sample to place over fabric to get an idea of how it looks..

                      | Jean and Grace, thank you for the fabric store suggestions! We go through that area several times a year and it would be fun to find some new fabric outlets. I will look at them online, also.

                      | Yep. we've got an adventure planned. . . . glamping at the Clearwater Farm, quilt museum in Genessee, a run over to Mary Jane's place to say Hi and see her cute store, Rebs Fab Stash in Moscow, Featherweight shop in Kooskia, making and/or drinking Limoncello, and more. And, Debbie, don't you dare come through Moscow without giving me a jingle . . . I'll meet you at Rebs Fab Stash. LOL. hugs,
 jean
