Yes, I brought in the poncho with a hole I fixed to the Sew & Tell so I had two tickets. I won a Blade Saver 60 mm Thread Cutter from The Gypsy Quilter. For those who quilt, it saves time for those who chain piece their blocks by allowing one motion for cutting the threads. I may give it to my sister Audra Rose because she does so much more quilt piecing than I do.

I really like the cute little screw driver.

Grace, here is Everleigh's cross stitch kit. They are pretty basic and kid friendly. I have to start the yarn and finish it for her, but other then that I think she is doing great!

Today I am working on a project our local guild has taken on the past 3 years. One of our members's daughters is a teacher of 1st grade. She teaches the students about basic fractions using 2-1/2" squares and basic ways to divide them. After the lessons, she has the students use pre-cut pieces of the shapes they have learned and each student can make their own paper quilt. Our guild members then take the pictures of their quilts and make their quilt. Some students use the basic shapes, but then there are the ones who get super creative and their quilts are very involved and sometimes very difficult for a quilter to make.

The first 2 years only the one teacher was doing this. After the second year, the other two 1st grade teachers in the school decided they wanted to do this, and this brings us to this year, with 3x the number of small quilts to be made. I haven't taken one to do before, but decided to this year. I chose one with basic shapes for my first one. If it goes well, I may make another. In fact, because this year there are so many, they are having a sewing day to try to finish the 20 or so "quilts" that haven't been taken yet. LOL! This is quite an undertaking. Here is a picture of the quilt I am going to make and the fabrics I will be using. The colors used in this student's quilt are Bright pink, light pink, royal blue, light blue, white, green, light purple, and dark purple. We don't have to use solid colors, only fabrics that show like the color (without a light pink, I chose the pink/white gingham).

The first 2 years when the quilts were done, they had a presentation when the quilts were given to the designing student and the paper quilts were hung in the hallway of the school. This year, since there are so many, the school is going to have a "quilt show".

Farmgirl hugs,
Linda

Krista - wonderful block! Your afghan is going to be huge LOL!

Linda - that's an awesome project!

I made some gifts for my nieces 16th birthday:

a trash can for her car:

a visor organizer with a couple gifts attached:

and since I had fabric left over a gift bag for it all:

I didn't lay it out very well for the picture. It is a normal looking bag, not a crinkled on the bottom corner bag :)

Linda, I absolutely love that idea! Everleigh is in first grade and I just know how excited she would be with getting a quilt like she designed! All of you really make a huge difference for those kids. I look forward to seeing yours completed.

Heather, those look great. I love the fabric. Your niece is going to love them.
