Using crochet thread I'm making a round tablecloth. Its starting to get ruffles, won't lay flat. Is that to many stitches or not enough. Don't know weather to increase or decrease.

It sounds like you are using too many stiches. When I work in the round I start from center either 12 or 16 stitches. Next row two stitches in each stitch from previous row. Next row would be one stitch in next then two in next one repeat. Next row one stitch in next two, two in next, repeat. Each row you add one count.

Like this

1 11 1 11 1 11 1 11
1 1 11 1 1 11 1 1 11
1 1 1 11 1 1 1 11
1 1 1 1 11 1 1 1 1 11

If it is still ruffling you can do every other only single stitches like this:

1 11 1 11 1 11
1 1 1 1 1 1 1
1 1 11 1 1 11 1 1 11
1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
1 1 1 11 1 1 1 11
1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1

I was taught to crochet when I was 12 by my 11yr old neighbor. I had the pleasure to teach a co-worker and my supervisor. They in turn taught others. I love sharing like my friend shared with me. Good luck with your project. Elbow bumps!
