I know that so many must be going stir crazy. I do not like the idea of being told I should stay home, away from those I love to protect them and me. Daily it seems, or at least on the days when I need it most, I need only look out my window or go for a walk here on the farm and God provides something just for me. Last evening as I weeded the potato patch (they are volunteers I failed to harvest last year) I rediscovered the cucumber plants I had planted in Early June. They were thriving, protected by the potatoes from things that might see them as tasty treats.
And this morning, as I was beginning to stir, my little friend, the hummingbird flew to each southern-facing window waiting briefly until finally I said, "good morning" to him. It was as if somehow he knew I needed reminded that God is here with us and we will be OK, this too shall pass.

I am feeling a little like Terri. I am so lucky and have so much in my life, and it is not like I feel I am owed anything, but a simple thing like going out for a meal with my husband is challenging. The feeling usually only last a few hours, but it does show up. I am planning a road trip with a girlfriend in September to go back to Ohio and see family. I am sooooo looking forward to that. We will mask and social distance, but at least I will get to see them. All of you have become my long distance family--so thanks for your sisterhood.

Have a beautiful Monday

How this thread has warmed my heart, soothed my weary soul. God is truly with us, blessed us, strengthens us, teaches us, saves us......I cant think of anything thsts been too much in my life to not be incredibly thankful for all that the Lord has done for me. Not that the devil hasnt tried to break me lately but I'm forever singing the hymn Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus, look into His wonderful face for the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace!!! ( sometimes I do a mixed medley tho, remember the song they're coming to take me away haha!!) ;D

What a Blessing to have a Savior that calls us His own and loves us unconditionally! The problem we have sometimes is we don't love ourselves! The trickster tries to undermine our peace but our Jesus says, Not Now Devil, she's mine! We are perfect in His eyes and He won't let us go! I am so thankful for all my Sisters on this site and pray a hedge of protection around all of us as we get through all this by the blood of our Jesus!

Denise, I decided to look back over our thread this morning. I reread Phil.4:8. Thank you. Our choir has a song, "Think on these Things", may be its title. It is this verse put to a melody I have always liked it. I have spent most of the past half hour looking out my window at a Doe and her two fawns as they come to my yard for their morning snack. This verse/song is the perfect background tune in my head for this picture. Thank you.

And, thanks to all of you as you continue to share your "Happy Notes". It is nice to know there is a place to come and be recharged with the positive energy we share here.

As you are to me, be blessed.

Mom and I called the neighbors and asked for permission to come to their barnyard to do some stargazing and hopefully get a glance of the comet as it passed by Earth. They invited us up to their yard on top of the hill. We were not able to definitively locate the comet. We did find a couple constellations and planets and enjoyed the sheer pleasure of the beauty of the heavens and one another's company.

Hello Ladies, new to this thread/topic and just finished reading each page. How delightful and refreshing. It is exactly what I looked forward to when I remembered Mary Jane's Farmgirl connection. I've been away for quite some time and was getting tired of all the "stuff" on FB. Unfortunately, it is our means of communicating with much of our family and friends, but I get sucked in and while away more time than I care to admit. It is a thief that I give permission to steal my time. But this.....this is what I need, what I enjoy and what I find worthwhile. So thank you for your posts, your witness, encouragements, observations, inspirations and care for each other. That is my happy for today and a great way to close out the day. God bless.

Take care of others knowing God takes care of you. Rom 8:28

The mama deer are getting accustomed to me, and don't run when I go to take care of the chickens. Both of their little fawns are lively. The mama deer eat the pears, leaving half-eaten ones on the ground. I gather these and give them to the chickens. The blueberry bushes have produced a nice harvest. Simple things keep me grounded. Thank you, God!

Keep shining!

I planted butterfly bushes - four varieties and the swallowtails are visiting. So calming to take a break and watch.

Julie,
Butterflies have such a calming effect don't they?

I love that we get to witness the daily lives of the wild animals. And that they aren't very wild after all.

Yes, Denise, so calming. And yesterday I had a very special visitor - a hummingbird moth. Was even able to get my husband out the door to look at it. We joke because I get so excited to show him something outside and by the time he gets to the window, the creature has run /flown away. I love showing him something he has never seen. : )

It's 42 days til Autumn!! I've already started making little fruit pies with berries, and looking forward to the apple harvest, too. The changing leaves, and sitting around the fire ring just chilly enough to make it extra cozy...right around the bend!

Keep shining!

I too like Autumn. But, Summer has so many things to I like watching the babies grow into their legs and explore the world, the opportunity to grow food (with God's help of course), just being outside (even a rainy day is tolerable), I like summer.

Fall is my favorite time of the year - followed by winter then spring. I have a theory that the Lord made August so we would appreciate fall and not take it for granted. It's almost mid-Aug so it's time to start decorating my front porch for fall. A little here - a little there and by Sept it's all done.

I ruined the opossum's day last night. I watched as he walked around the edge of the yard straight to the row of tomato plants where the first ripe tomatoes were just about ready to pick. I walked out and told him to move on. He walked to the next row, as if that would be better, that is where the peas are coming along well, also just about to be picked. He traveled on down through the beans and corn and finally out of my garden and into the pasture. I am sure he will be back in the days to come. I picked those tomatoes. He won't get them.

Autumn brings me such joy, I brought my stuff out and decorated today. I know I'm rushing it but I can enjoy the last days of summer with autumn on my mind.
Sat on the porch this morning feeling a cool breeze and enjoying my cup of tea. Great way to start the day out there in some quiet time. So peaceful!

I'm an autumn girl, myself! I was just THRILLED to see two HUGE orange pumpkins sitting on the porch at our favorite farm last week! Then we found seven in our home garden! I am so, so ready! The other morning, things just "felt" different. I said to my hubby, I don't know why but I have this feeling of fall... Like mother nature is taking a turn... Since then, the humidity seems to have passed, the temperatures aren't quite so high, and it's easier and more pleasant to be outside working! SO happy! Bring on the changing leaves, boots and bulky sweaters!!! I am SO ready!

Also - saw a couple of young bulls testing out their horns at another farm... so dang adorable! And then we looked up on the hill behind the farm and saw about seven deer just looking down the hill watching them! It was like seeing rainbows after the storm!

Hugs -

Nini
