Hi Everyone!
I have a couple of very specific questions about living without power. We've been without power since Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately there is no power in sight. It will be at least another week. My question is how long until I have to worry about all the stuff in the freezer? We haven't opened it at all, and it sits in the basement where the temperature has dropped to a "balmy" 40 degrees.

Question 2: Has anyone had any success with letting the water run at a trinkle to keep the pipes from freezing?

Thanks bunches!
Joy

If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping!

Hi, there, Joy! I don't have any answers for you, but I was wondering if you have power back on yet? Sending you warm wishes and lighted evenings!!!!

XOXO, Libbie

Hi Joy -- Wow, without power for a week? Is this from the storms?

We always let the water run at a trickle on very cold nights here, because we've had the experience of pipes freezing and NEVER want that again! So yes, it works.

Second, I think your freezer stuff may survive, since you haven't opened it at all and the ambient temperature is so low. No way to know until the power is back, of course. Maybe you could contact the university extension service for specific advice.

Hope you're back on the grid soon. What a bummer!
