I need some ideas for what else to put in with the dishcloths. And how much is too little? Too much?

And how big is a "standard" dishcloth? And where might I find patterns for dishcloths? Will anyone be disappointed if they receive only a square in pretty colors?

Persephone, check out "Lion Brand" yarns website.....they have oodles of online FREE patterens for everything from dishcloths-shawls-socks & hats, etc...the patterens are also listed as biginner/easy/intermediate/experienced. They have 2 sections, 1 for the knitter and 1 for the crochetter. I have it in my favorites. They even have simple "how-to" section for the beginner. It is a really great site.

For anyone who has trouble finding some cotton yarn, check your local Wal-mart. They usually have some in the back by the knitting needles and such.

Also, just a quick note to folks to remember to wait until you're paired up with your partner to officially start knitting/crocheting your dishcloths and finding your goodies. Every Farmgirl has indicated her favorite colors, whether it matters if the dishcloths match her kitchen or not and her special likes and dislikes in the way of tea, coffee, chocolate etc. I'm having so much fun reading all of your emails and I'm excited to get going too!

(Do you all want me to close this early so we can just get going or should we still keep it open until Feb. 15? Your call, let me know!)

Erin,
Thanks for posting those sites. I was starting to wonder where I was going to find something I could do that wasn't so plain.

cmandle,
I don't read instructions very well....I also run with scissors!!!! LOL!
I was so excited, that I went out & bought my cotton yarn, but no biggie, I will make a few practice clothes for my self & family....And when I get my crochet buddett's favorite color, I will sneak over to JoAnns/Michaels or Wally World (Wal-mart) & get more yarn...
As for closing the sign up date, it doesn't matter, you are wearing the "hostess apron" so it is up to you.

Catherine,

I only gathered my stuff because I have so much of it and I wanted to do a "practice run". Perhaps it would be best to wait until the official date, we might get more sign ups, but of course it's up to you. I must confess, I can't wait to find out who's my partner, I'm looking forward to getting goodies for her.

I've been practicing my dishcloths, too... It always takes a while to get the machine set up and a pattern and yarn selected, find the right gauge, etc...

I posted my first dishcloth on my blog http://brightmeadowknits.blogspot.com - it is definitely NOT giftable! (too many mistakes...)

It would be whatever you want to do Catherine about closing it now and all of us getting started. You do have an even number now, but like the others have said, it's your call. Either way is fine with me.
