Denise, if I lived in Minnesota I would not go out doors either. It is cold enough here.

Christy - I sent out the list of addresses. Didn't you get it?

Denise - BRRR! Don't go out in that cold weather you are having. Stay warm and safe inside.

Ok Linda, I have a question. Is there any pattern to a scrappy quilt? I looked again at your Christmas scrappy quilt, it is very colorful and pretty. I am sewing yours and mine together. I pressed them tonight.

No pattern at all for a scrappy quilt. Some are scrappier than others, some are more coordinated-scrappy than others. I have one friend who HAS to have her scrappy look coordinated - in some way. Random doesn't work for her. LOL! Sometimes I try to keep all dark blocks from being in one spot. Some say for a true scrappy you should put all the blocks in a bag and blindly draw two out and sew them together, draw another and add it, etc. Up to you how you do it.

I received your blocks today, Marilyn. Love the different blocks these swaps provide for us. Everyone's stash is different.

Its a heat wave -5 this morning!
Its been colder here and most of the time I put up with it because otherwise I would not get anything done. It gets cold at work, then by the time I get home I don't want to get all geared up and go out again. Thank goodness for seat heaters in the car!

I received my squares from Rebecca today. Thank you.
Linda, another ?? Do you sew your squares in long rows, then sew the long rows together? Since I do not have all of my squares yet, I have been sewing them together in twos. They are pressed and ready for more to join them. I can hardly wait to see the finished top.

I received Rebecca's squares today, too. Love these squares!

I will probably put them into sets of 2. then after all squares are here. I usually chain piece them by twos, then add 2 twos together, add 2 fours together, then add another 2. With our squares we should be close to a quilt 10 squares across x 12 rows down.

Ughhhh, 59 years old. Although it does mean I'm closer to retirement :) I received Marilyns squares today. I like speed piecing, so I'll wait till I get them all, lay out my quilt, stack the rows and sew. Fun!

I am going to wait, too, Christy. I like speed piecing and I don't really want a lot of dark colors together in the same spot of the quilt. I could do sets of 2 squares first, but not sure if I will. It won't take too long to sew them all together.

Good thing we have our sewing to get us through these long winter days/nights. Speaking of which I have rec'd my squares from Linda, Rebecca and Marilyn, thank you!
I mailed mine yesterday ( before the storm hit)big yellow envelopes, wasn't sure if we could fold the squares.

Poor kids. Poor bus drivers. Yes I am so glad I have lots of fabric to play with. Last summer I started a trellis quilt. Today I began sewing the white strips to the the
Triangles. I can see that it will take a while, but it is too cold for much else.

I will be mailing my squares tomorrow.
Linda I received your squares, I need to stop at the mail box in the morning and see what else there is. I'm making a quilt from a jelly roll which I have not used before. It's the pattern from Missouri Star quilts. There is a you tube video for the pattern, I think its a jelly roll race??? Anyway it is colors I would not have picked normally, but I have to step out of my box here and there.
I think I might try to make a scrappy trip around the world with my squares. I'm not sure it will work but we will see.

Received Rebeccas squares yesterday. Finally took down my big Christmas Tree. I'm so anxious to get things cleaned up and have time to get back at the sewing machine. My husband is getting me ready to be a widow and its infringing on my craftiness :( It's an odd thing to have someone thinking about what needs to be done before they leave this world. I can't imagine how that feels. Sad. For Christmas I wanted a gift certificate to our local quilting shop. Instead he got me a new pistol and signed me up for a concealed carry class. Today, Saturday we are going to an indoor range so "I can get some practice in". Geez oh pete, I'd rather be sewing and do laundry. We have hardly any crime in our town, we have never had trouble. I'm not afraid to be alone. I guess I can't change what he's doing so I'll try and embrace it as being thoughtful on his part. He is preparing me to be alone. Sighhhh. Will get more envelopes today and mail the rest of my squares to all you lovely ladies. Have a great Saturday!!! It's 9 degrees here and the sun is trying to peek out.

Oh Christy, I cannot even imagine what you and your hubby are living through right now. He is trying to protect you. He loves you. When my dad passed away my mom was only 54. Everything was good for a couple of years. Then she began to have men drop by to give her a few green onions, some greens from their gardens. She was not happy. Those old 'farts' just needed to go away and leave her be. She told them so. Eventually she made her way to the Senior Center. She enjoyed visiting. She did finally remarry, some 14 years later...her cousins widow.
God bless you and your husband.

I'm happy people are liking these squares. Lots of bright colors and all very different. This is great.

So sorry, Christy, to hear about your husband. He is trying to do what he thinks you will need to stay safe. My mother was a widow at 84, and one of Dad's friends kept calling to take her to a movie or dinner; she went only once after saying no many times and said she thought he was looking for a maid or caregiver. He died only 5 months later, so I think he just wanted someone to take care of him. He wasn't thinking about her. She passed away only 5 years later and liked living by herself.

I sent my squares today. I think I screwed up the postage, so if anyone has to pay extra postage I will send the money. I am so sorry. I hate the post office by my house. Next time I'm taking it to the airport PO its 30 mons from my house but much less irritating and stressful than the one near me. Not helpful at all. Anyway I again apologize and will just send money to make up the difference unless that all come back to me then I will just add more postage and send them again.....
