Finally we got rain! Because of that I invited my sweetie to transplant 2 trees we got from the Arbor Day Society. It was a task made harder by the rocks, which are a natural resource in our part of KY. The dirt was still dry, so we ran water in it to soften it up (and so I could play in the mud).
I was pretty muddy! We have more little trees to move, but that's it for today.
I've signed up with Noom, and am excited to eat better and get more energy.

We got rain too---it was great. I can see your yard is as burned up as mine. What are the trees you planted? Our ground is very rocky too.

Our property produces a fine crop of rocks! This one was carted uphill to sit along our cistern cover.

Vanessa---if I could sell rocks I'd be a billionaire for sure. That's why our farm is Rock Bottom Farm. It also means we are always broke and scraping by.

This morning my sweetie said I needed a haircut. After work I went to a new beauty parlor and got a trim.

I've signed up for the stuffed Christmas Stocking swap and am making stockings out of the material in my stash.

I wish my hair was this pretty natural color---I thought you had had it colored. Right now I look like an old holler hag with bad gray roots and the rest red. I couldn't dye it when we had no water and have been too busy to fool with it. This cold weather will give me more time for myself.

My sweetie has his high moments. Once, he arranged to whisk me from work and took me to Las Vegas for our anniversary. Because I lent his mom the desk I used for sewing, he ordered a replacement. Yesterday, the replacement arrived. Its a beautiful 60 year old cabinet. Eventually I may get a machine to fit inside. Now I can get busy with Christmas stockings and quilts!

Another improvement to our home: a sliding door to the unheated basement laundry area. We also have a vent from my mother-in-law's apartment to the bedroom so the heat can rise. Our handyman also made it possible to get under the steps for more storage.

There is not much new in our home. Schools were delayed an hour due to fog.

It is strange that we've not had any snow this winter.
I am working on this wonky quilt. The dachshund print was so cold, I chose orange to warm it up, and the other side has a lovely peacock print.

Argh! I remember looking that terrible. I am in the navy shirt (not the best color for me). The others are Joe, the elder, and Michael, the little guy.

I hate to tell you Marie---but you look pretty in that picture. You and Vanessa were both very pretty. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Thanks. I felt so awkward and lonely in junior high. I guess everyone does.

We keep evicting these ladybug wannabes from the kitchen. Goodness knows where they come from.

We've been warned not to squish them because they smell bad.

I am a new Sister, #8010! We purchased our 10 acres in June of 2016 but had to wait until April of 2019 to start building our new little farm home - took a while to sell our 1939 vintage home in town. But how pleased we our with our God Given Acres & our home at the top of the hill which allows us to see the sunrise every morning & the sunset every evening. Gardens to be planted this year - and, of course, a red barn built!!!

Welcome to the Farmgirl Connection, Sharon! I am glad you have also found your piece of Heaven. What I enjoy most about living in the country try is hearing sounds of nature.. barking dogs, mooing cows, insects, frogs- but no noisy neighbors or screeching cars.

And another day begins on my old Kentucky home. Last night we had enough rain to really soak the ground.

I'm getting ready for Easter. And I'm taking a chance on the weather and putting in peas and lima beans.
