Yesterday, we gave the yard a quick cut (the mower was set too low in my opinion, and the grass was still wet and clumpy), spread extra dirt along the front porch, not covering the surviving bleeding hearts and bulbs, then we added more dirt to the gardens. That wiped out Mr. XY Chromosomes, but I decided since today, Monday, would be rainy I could put in an early garden. The bed on the left has red, white and yellow onions. The bed on the right has peas, beets and carrots. I'm trying out planting according the the Old Farmer's Almanac this year.

I'm also planning "guerrilla gardening" in my community. I'll tuck marigold seeds into bare planters or flowerbeds for a future surprise.

My sweetie was so taken with bleeding hearts. They have sprung back this spring from nothing and now are blooming. Our community is also hanging out flags. We were supposed to be displaying the KY Vietnam Memorial Wall on Memorial day, but now, who knows?

My improved solar/wind clothes dryer is in use. Look beyond, and you can see the redbud trees in bloom.

Vanessa, I have a feeling many of may be sporting the Pony Tails soon. What is in your third bed. When I went for my evening walk, it snowed on me before I got back inside.

Right now the 3rd bed is empty. I dug out the grass and a few large rocks today and will add soil tomorrow. Because we expect freezing temps, tomatoes and cucumbers will have to wait, but I may put in more peas.
My sweetie was looking shaggy around the edges, so I convinced him to let me trim his beard and his neck. He was nervous but I didn't scalp him.

Today, with a bit of stimulus money, we expanded our front yard all the way to the garage. When it is not as windy I'll paint the front fence, but the fence to the right can stay black. We also saw our first hummingbird today.

In addition, I caved in to my sweeties request <wink> and let him get a camper. It's a 17 ft. Jayco with a bathroom and a/c. As you can see, inside it is rather vanilla, but I plan to paint it and add decorations. Sweetie and I are planning to go to Crater of Diamonds State Park in mid June.

Vanessa---I beat you on the hummers by about three days---you are right they may freeze this weekend in the chilly temps=---this weather do get tedious. My husband bought yard tools with our stimulus money---including a weed eater for me. Happy summer to me--LOL! Love your camper and enjoy. FUN! FUN! FUN! for sure. Rock on dear child.

Its funny the little things that make a person happy. We have garage door openers that are touchy. You can stand right in front of the door and they won't work. When you drop them they split in 3 pieces. Imagine my surprise when it worked on the first time today.

My mother-in-law is fixing up her west facing porch for the warmer weather, whenever it arrives. We had a freeze warning last night that froze birdbath water.

Things are just buzzin' at our old Kentucky home. We got the call on Friday and drove to our bee store on Saturday to pick up our bees. An experienced member of the Buffalo Trace Beekeepers club helped us choose the site and gave us additional info so we didn't have to reinvent the wheel. This morning we will let the ladies out to explore their new home.
The hive on the left is Bee Loved, the one on the right is Bee Haven.

I am so happy that you got bees. I always wanted some---we tried twice and they always left: but we went to a friend's house and caught them when they were swarming. They won't sting when swarming and it was so weird to stand in the middle of them. I just finally gave up. All the honey bees are dying. We hardly ever see one. I so hope yours live and do great. Now we have those murder hornets coming that kill the honey bees. This earth is in such a mess---climate change will do us in, But I'm like Scarlett O'Hara---I'll worry about that tomorrow. Although we all need to worry about it today.

Yesterday you could hear the hum of tractors cutting fields. We also had our acres cut. Nothing smells better than cut grass!

I agree! I used to love haying time and saw it all my life---have even helped in hay fields. We have had much excitement in the holler---LOL. Our road was worked for three days and how wonderful that was! Today the power line was worked on and many trees cut and trimmed---including those in our yard. We are raising thirty baby chickens and they are a joy. They came in the mail---so exciting. The 17 year cicadas are out and singing. I am busy weed eating the donkey field down to make the grass better and I fall in bed so tired and sleep like a baby. Planting a garden and flowers---tooo busy to think. But I was feeling like my house looked like a disgusting ugly mess and the young men cutting the power line asked my husband if he was a millionaire and he said ---not hardly. And another one said if this is Rock Bottom Farm---I want one. Oh how they lifted my old holler spirit. Rock on Vanessa and I will too.
