Kathleen - This is not a 9-patch, though you could do it as an uneven 9-patch. This one has pieces added to the center square on the sides and then across the top/bottom.

If I use the pattern again, Kathleen, I will probably change it slightly - to make the focus squares in the middle a bit larger. To make the white-bordered squares my original pattern uses a 4-1/2" square of floral and 3-1/4" pieces on the sides and top/bottom. I would change it to a 5-1/2" middle focus fabric and 2-3/4" pieces on the sides and top/bottom (OR 5" square and 3" around).

I'm thinking of using this pattern for the Farm Girl fabrics only using a wood-grain or other textured look fabric as the "frames". Not sure how that would look. May make a table runner/square first to see if I like it.

Thanks Linda. Was there a photo in the magazine, a while back, of a dish drained quilt? I saw one somewhere. I need to make some for myself. No dishwasher, and I am always looking for a towel or two to drain on.

Haven't got fabrics yet- can't imagine -- I used to find kitchen fabrics all the time. Still hunting.

I dropped my little pillows in an outside drop box this morning. So along about Tuesday they should begin arriving. Hopefully they will survive the cancelling machine in Fort Worth. If you do not receive an envelope from me by next Saturday... PLEASE let me know so I can try again.

I've ordered my Kitchen fabrics today. I'll be sending them out in a week or so. Not too many choices here in town.
Happy Cutting everyone!

Christy and Mary, it was difficult to find kitchen prints. My problem was my thinking. When Hadlee went, she asked the lady if they had any and immediately chose two. I was standing there wondering why I had not seen them before.I don't know what I was looking for, but obviously it was not kitchen. A fresh set of eyes were an excellent help.

My happy mailbox had two envelopes of fabric today. Thank you Cristy Marxsen for the pretty kitchen prints, and also thanks to Linda Olivera for her pretty choices. Already I am inspired by these cute fabrics.

Wow! My first two kitchen fabric envelopes!

Cristy Marxsen, thank you for those pretty prints! They will definitely be in something special for my only daughter. She decorates her kitchen in apples! (Love your envelope too!)

Linda "Quiltee", thank you too, for your squares! I love them both!
Especially, "Sit Up Straight"! Brings up memories of when I had a daycare. I grew up on those words...only it was, "Sit up straight and eat right!" Guess I said it to the neighbor boy too often. He spent a lot of time at our house. His mom was our friend and one night we had them over to dinner. The little boy told his mom to sit up straight and eat right. Oh, talk about mortified I do believe that is the last time those words were spoken in my house.

I also received my first two envelopes of fabric - from Cristy and Marilyn. Love these fabrics. I love Cristy's apples and fruit words and also the fabrics that Hadlee chose, Marilyn. She has good taste. LOL!
