I would not have room for a Big roll like that. Or does it come folded in, then rolled up, like a poly quilt batting?

It is folded in half and then rolled. It is around 45" tall.

That sounds more manageable. I was thinking about those gianormous rolls they use on quilting machines.

I've purchased my fabric! Yay! If we have an even larger group...oh, well...just might have to go shopping again! So sad...lol.

I only bought 2 yards last time - the rest I had in my stash. The 2 yards was plenty for 23 people. Think we'll have 24 this time??

We only have 17 so far, so I think 2 yards will do it. 1 yard equals 12 squares plus 6" left over, so should be able to get 28 out of 2 yards.

Angie, I think it is a small pad or quilt that you can drain your hand washed dishes on, or as my DIL does, everything that cannot be run through the dishwasher. There are some store bought ones, but the two I have are not pretty. So if you make one or several, you can make them pretty.

Linda,
Thank you! My sister buys batting by the roll at Joanns, with a coupon, but she has a long arm machine so works great for her to do that and I rarely have to buy batting if she quilts for me so I may buy the next roll when she's ready for one.
I have one of my fabrics purchased, I was having a hard time finding a second one I like, I might just have to order it online.

I found my 2nd fabric at Walmart.

I sure hope too many people did't find the same fabric. I know many thrifty farm girls shop at Walmart.

Now to start ironing & cutting.

I've already decided that this swap will go into making a table cover quilt. No batting--just quilt top & backing.

Hugs and Squishies!!

Kathy

Great idea, Kathy. That's kind of what I am doing with my floral fabrics. I used the pattern I wrote up in the floral swap thread. Here's one top. I can make 2 with all the squares we got, but am trying to decide what to do with the other squares.

If I just bind it the top will be 48" square.

I will find the link and post it so you can see the pattern. If you've been getting her magazine, it was in the June/July 2011 issue of MJF magazine (page 74). It was also in her Glamping with Mary Jane book. I have a PDF of it, but am looking for a link, because I am SURE it was in her daily post, too.

Yes, Marilyn, it is a small "quilt" to put on the counter to use as a drying mat. Very handy!

Linda - That's a great use of florals. And, the white really makes those colors pop. You are very talented.

I found a little, hole-in-the-wall fabric store & bought 25 one yard cuts of depression era florals. I think I may use your design.

Hugs and Squishies!!

This one will really be challenging for me, but fun!! I love all the fabrics sent. I will have plenty
to do this winter. I decided to use the pattern I see in the picture for my florals too. As for the others,
I'm still thinking. Kathleen
