Ok. this is my Artichoke on Steroids plant... my other one is a normal plant but this one just went crazy. they were both bought at the same time, from the same Nursery and planted 2 1/2 years ago... Wowzers! This one has 13 Chokes on it!
don't mind me,,, I had been out in my garden of weedin... and look pretty much grubby.
it seems pretty much each stalk has set on 3 chokes each... While my other Artichoke plant has single chokes and they are barely the size of a large marble... I can almost taste them now!

I think your artichoke plant really might be on steroids! Are you going to be able to eat them all?

Wow! That is so crazy! You will have plenty of artichokes this year. Now I'm craving some spinach and artichoke dip!

Kristi... I will do my best! Lol!
Krista... Ditto that, with Bagel Chips! ;>)
I usually let the smaller ( end of season) chokes go to blossoms... they make a lovely thistle type blossoms ... and they dry beautiful as well.

I love to stuff my Artichokes. I use fine Italian Bread Crumbs, a little galic powder, with Parmesan Cheese...mix them together then I open up the leaves and sprinkle the mixture down into the artichokes then steam them for 45 minutes in a 3 quart covered pan. Then take them out and dip each leaf in butter and Oh what a feast! I have a friend who is Italian...and that is how she always fixed them only she used a pressure-cooker...then she would invite me over (when we lived in the same Neighborhood)... now I always fix them the same way! OK...Gracie now I'm going to half to go to the Store and buy me a couple of Artichokes... you've gone and made me hungry!!! LOL

Wow Grace that is one impressive Artichoke plant! I've never had good luck growing them here...they will grow lots of leaves and occasionally bloom but have never made it to the harvest point for me. Enjoy them!
Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Marilyn.... I use to grow then when I lived in SO.Calif....and they grew well...but none ever grew like this one! I just chopped them down at the end of the season... covered with mulch and come the next Spring they would grow back... I could get 3 seasons out of a plant... after that they hardly produced chokes.

Amazing, Artichoke, Grace!!!!!! At first glance, I thought it was a joke. I love your postings. Marly
