Essure implants are used for permanent birth control when you choose not to have any more children. They are placed in the fallopian tubes and in theory, they tubes are supposed to scar around the nickel/titanium coils. This was introduced as an alternative to tubal ligation with 24 hour recovery time. Right now, the FDA has put a black box warning on them. They have been causing a lot of problems in women ranging from hormonal imbalances causing PCOS to actual ripping/tearing and migration from the implant site. I currently have them. I am not having pain or major discomfort. I have had them since 2008. I've gotten much more moody and fatigued since the implants. If you are considering having this procedure, please, please, please do your research. If you have them, make an appointment with your ob/gyn to discuss the problems. Insist on having them retest to see if they've migrated. If you need to have them removed, it could result in a full blown hysterectomy and the problem stems that the surgeon might not get the entire device resulting in multiple surgeries. There are 2 facebook pages that I'm watching. Just wanted to let you ladies know.
