Ya'll are just so sweet. Thank you again for all of your loving posts.

Mom and I went to the oncologist yesterday for her first consultation. Basically, there is really no hope of recovery or improvment in this type of cancer, so Mom has decided to not do any chemo, or experimental drug or vaccine therapy. She signed a DNR and she is going to smell the roses, listen to the ocean, eat what she wants, laugh and love for the time that she has left in this life. I am very thankful for this decision. It is brave and loving of her to choose this course of life. I prayed that she would choose to enjoy what time she has left rather than suffer in doctor's offices, languish in hospitals at the mercy of overworked staff. Instead we will be entering a hospice program. I will be given a box of comfort medications to use for her when the times are rough. I am an experienced RN, but also a daughter and mother and my mother's sisterly caretaker in this life. My mother and I have discussed how by my two young daughters observing how I care for her during her darkest hours, they will in turn learn how to care for not only others, but also for my husband and I and their future families.

I remember reading how MaryJane lost her mother in a tragic way, so I am grateful that I will have this time with my mother to talk, laugh, eat donuts and ultimately bath her, hold her and let her go.

My brother took her to the beach today. They are going to rent a hotel room, facing the ocean and eat at an all you can eat seafood buffet tonight. I wanted to go too, but I know how important it is for them to be together alone right now. He flys back to London, his home, on Monday.

I love all of you and thank you for your support and Cinnamongirl...new friends are always welcome at MJ's and at Aunt George's house too!

Love and hugs,
I am thankful for Abundant Blessings,
G

Georgann,

I too have just read this post today. And like Carrie I am new here. Just wanted to say how incredibly lucky you are that you will be able to care for your mother. May God bless you and your family.

Hi Aunt George, I read about your nursing dilemma, I worry about this all the time. I worked 24 hours in the ER last week, and I don't know what's happening to our medical environment. It is really frightening. hang in there, I'm so sorry about your recent events, jo
