Hi all - I've been without internet for the past while :) They came and fixed it today...it was kind of nice! We had a big picnic on our farm on Saturday - it was so fun! We had old-fashioned games like hang the laundry (quickest won), crochet contest (the quickest was 5 rows in 5 minutes), wood sawing (my hubby won!!) and fun games for the kids like feedsack races and egg races.
Nicole - I'm so sorry to hear about your challenges. I will be praying for you - sending you big hugs.
Krista - super cute boots!!

Joyce that all sounds really fun! And what a great way to sneak in some less-fun chores ;)

I gotta know- has this heat/humidity been kicking any of y'alls butts?
I live in the Northern Peninsula of Michigan. Sure, it gets warm in the summer but its a nice warm- Breezy, a little humid, and around the high 70s to mid 80s. I figure the brutal and long winters more need a softer cousin so that's how we get the great summers.
but someone must have ticked off Summer this year, or maybe she is going through a bad breakup. Now we are fighting high 80s to mid 90s with humidity hovering around 80+% daily. I don't know too many folks who own air conditioning (I mean, who needs it for a few stinking months out of the year?) so we are all basically melting everywhere.
I don't want to do anything! I am staring at my knitting and crochet and hoping that I can use the Force to finish them off because there is no way I am sitting a half-done blanket on my lap.
Who else is feeling Summer's rage? |

Me! We normally are in the 90s during the summer and have air conditioners so the heat is nothing new but it's been overly hot the last couple days! I believe the news said we have been in the triple digits for the last 9 days and have had 15 days over all in the triple digits. We have also had humidity as well. It's been quite the hot summer and absolutely no rain. I am ready for it to cool off or to at least rain!

We have been pretty hot, but it's currently raining outside, which I know my plants and animals are grateful for. I hope it helps cool us down in the next few days!

Soooo much to catch up on!!! Congratulations to Sabrina and Krista!!! As far as heat - we are "melting.... melting" like the wicked witch of the west! They keep calling for rain, but somehow it seems to keep be missing us!?!? I would love a refreshing downpour!!! Looking forward to the Fall :) I have finally ecided to get off my lazy bum and start walking more - but why did I have to pick the summer!?!? I got about 2.5 miles in today before I was in desperate need of water and air conditioning. Part of that mileage was pretty slow, as I was holding my 3 yo dd's hand ;) But I figured it was a STEP in the right direction (hahahaha)

I'm starting to think that I'm just getting used to the heat this year. It's much more humid and warm down state than it is in Chicago (plus I lived a block from Lake Michigan, which made it even cooler in the summers). While it's been warm, I've been handling it ok. I also work from home and don't have to go outside much, so that might be my trick, haha. I did start taking yoga classes at a studio last week, but I don't think it's the place for me. There are a lot of college age women there and it feels very cliquey. There's another studio in town that resumes sessions on the 29th that focuses more on developing a regular practice, so I think that place might be a better fit for me. I'm trying to replace my first love, dance classes, with yoga since the dance studios have class when I work. I really need to get back to working on badges though. I've just had a hard time transitioning with this move, but I'm hopeful things are starting to get better for me. I hope you're all having a wonderful day!

Rachel, I am so jealous! I would love for some rain. It seems to be raining all over Utah other than where I live! I'm getting ripped off.
Congratulations Shannon! I hope you are enjoying your walks and feeling better. Other than the heat of course! Did your daughter enjoy the walk as well?
Nicole, I hope the new yoga studio will be a better fit for you! I agree with you, dance is one of my all time favorites. I have been wanting to find an adult dance class around here but haven't had much luck. There are a ton of Zumba classes but I prefer ballet type classes. I'll start looking again once the baby comes that way I can get some exercise the fun way!
Glad to see you back Alicia. When you get a chance you will have to let us know how things have been.

Good morning :) Life here is moving right along :) It seems like the days are flying by!!! My to-do list is longer than the minutes of a day! But that is just how it goes. I've done really well getting my steps in lately, but probably won't today. I usually try to walk in the morning, but today was the Farmers market and grocery shopping... now the heat is INTENSE! We are in the 80s with a real temp in the 100s. And it is going to get worse over the next couple hours :( I don't see me going to the track. It should feel like the lower 90s around 9 tonight, so I MAY get a walk in then. As long as the mosquitoes don't fly off with me ;)
Alicia - Oh how I miss you friend! We need to catch up!!!

We finally got a small amount of rain over the weekend. Helped cool the temperature down but not for long! This weekend was eventful for us. My little guy took a pretty bad crash on the hard floor and got a big bruise and a bloody nose. It was a scary mommy moment for me. He is so tough and was back to playing within 10 mins! I was also able to complete my crochet breast cancer awareness hot pad for my mother. She absolutely loved it. We also visited a few friends and family this weekend. It was nice to catch up and see them. One of my wonderful friends also gave me her double stroller. I'm so grateful to have such wonderful people in my life! I hope the rest of you had a good weekend.

Today was blissful! We took advantage for a Nature Study Family hike through local National Forest. I will blog about it later. I have to get the boys to bed. My grandmother is really bad off. She is currently in a nursing home. I am scared she doesn't have much more time here. Please pray!

Krista - the first falls are the hardest... on us moms anyways ;) Funny story - we have always told our kids "no blood, no boo-boo." Well when my oldest was 18 mo or so, she was working with her granddaddy, who happened to hit his thumb with a hammer.... she looked at him and told him "granddaddy... no blood, no boo-boo." Oh my gracious, we all cracked up!!!! Well except my dad who first muttered a few choice words under his breath in pain, hahahahaha
Alicia - definitely praying!

Shannon, I agree. I know it hurt me way more than it hurt him! That is a good way to help control the "ouches". I do remember using something similar with my preschool kids. I would ask them if they were bleeding, they would say no, then I would say your fine go back to what your doing. That is such a funny story. I can't stop laughing! Kids are just so dang smart and cute!!
Alicia, your family hike sounds like so much fun. I can't wait to read about it. Keeping your grandmother in my thoughts.

I was just catching up on everyone. Krista I somehow missed you're pregnant? Congratulations! We're leaving for vacation in South Haven on Saturday. We go there every year with my mom, brother, sister, brother in law, sister in law, aunt, and various friends. I'm very excited about that!
Nicole, I feel your pain about being in a funk. I'm a little depressed lately myself. Mostly about feeling like I have no time to do anything. Doing a load of laundry and the dishes is an accomplishment for me. Also because I need to lose a solid 50 lbs. but I'm giving myself a little bit of a pass on that until baby's a year old. I want to exercise so bad but I'm so hot all the time! The summer rage! I feel it! We don't have ac on the main level of our house. Luckily we have it upstairs, so there's some relief. My plan is to start exercising again when it cools down.

Hi Erin! <<<waving like a crazy lady>>> Man I miss talking to you lovely ladies on a regular basis! A funk.... yup... that is what I keep complaining about... being in a funk! My weight definitely has something to do with it (I need to lose about twice as much as you Erin!), my health is really really poor, Emi has decided to quit nursing :'( and there just is not enough time in a day for everything I need/want to do. I've heard it said that if there is not enough time then you are doing things God did not intend for you to do. Ouch! I am trying to be still and truly listen to His Spirit and minimize my chaos that I call my life. It's hard! It's overwhelming. But it's freeing! I'm certainly not there... but I'm working towards it! I know technology is suppose to make things easier, but for me, it just complicates life! I'm actually passing the penpal program that I started for homeschooled children through HSAMF on to someone else to try to simplify!
Erin - do you have a fitbit? That has been my go to here lately - I don't know if I am losing any weight yet or not, but I know I am getting my 10000 steps in, almost everyday :)

I get the funk! Same here. I don't do fitbit, but if I could loose 50 I'd be happy, but I need to loose about 75.

Erin, thank you so much! I'm glad you stopped by. Been missing you lately. Your vacation sounds fun! Enjoy yourself and have fun with family and friends. I'm sorry to hear you are in a funk lately. Don't stress so much about chores, they will always be there the next day! Just do what you can.
Shannon, sorry to hear about your stress and little Emi. How is she doing? Isn't her birthday coming up soon?! I really like how you put that. We really shouldn't worry about what we can't get done and look at what we did get done! What exactly is this Fitbit everyone is talking about?

Alicia - you need to get a fitbit and join me in the chaos ;)
Krista - Emi will be a year on the 27th :'( Where oh where has the time gone!?!? A fitbit is a gadget that you strap to your wrist and tracks how many steps you take. Kinda like a pedometer... But you can link up with friends on the internet, sending encouraging messages to one another, and set yourself some challenges.
Joyce - you are such a sweetheart <3 Love you my friend!

Shannon, oh my goodness! Where has the time gone! That is so close. Happy early birthday to sweet Emi! I may have to look into one of those Fitbits. It sounds like fun and I like being about to send messages to my friends. The challenges would also be good. If I get one I will have to linkup with you!
