Denise Ann, I love your quilt top! Very pretty! What size is it? Has anyone quilted a lap size quilt with a regular machine?

Judith,
Thank you, its a lap size quilt. I am taking a machine quilting class on Tuesday evening so I am excited to learn free motion quilting. I took a class years ago and it was so frustrating, too many people in the class and the instructor was not very helpful. I think she was selling a book or something. Mt sister has a long arm machine and does a great job. She also has quilted larger quilts on her regular machine. I have used a walking foot for just straight lines and sticking in the ditch, I want to expand my horizons to free motion. There are a lot of videos on you tube if you want to get an idea.
Thank you for the sweet card and chocolate!!!

Denise Ann, How did I miss your posting on your quilt? Must've been sleep reading!! Not hard to do when you run around the clock the way our house has been doing lately. At any rate, it's lovely! I'm flirting with starting a real quilt (as opposed to my afghan I'm crocheting for the "temperature quilt" thread). Unfortunately, I keep signing up for mail art and other swaps. . . it's cutting into my UFO time for sure! I admire your enthusiasm to dig and learn more about quilting. Can't wait to explore that world myself!

CJ, I also failed to mention how lovely your cards were. I'd love to dabble in photography but lately the only camera I have handy when a shot comes up is this dang smart phone. It's ok for what it is but you can't tell what you really have until you download on a pc and take a look on a decent sized screen. A few friends have used shutterfly and made some personal candid photos into story books etc. Custom gifts at Christmas time. It sure is nice to have so many options these days!

Gracie, As mentioned by those above, enjoy your time with mom. It'll be a treasured memory one day.

So glad we have this forum for sharing! Have a blessed weekend ladies!

So I finally got myself in gear to begin to finish my mother-in-law's quilt top. She told me she didn't wash the material before cutting, so I'll have to wash it gently. Today I laid it out to see how big it was compared to the fleece, and as you can see, I'm a little short along the edge. Back to Joanne's come payday!

But I did manage to glue holders on my new crop of plate flowers.

Denise Ann, Thank you so much for sharing your experience with quilting on the regular machine. I might try it to finish the heart lap quilt.

Audra Rose, Love your plate flowers...looks like you have a great new crop coming up:

CJ, I loved your card/flowers too. Great photography.

Have fun, Grace.

I finished Item #20 today! WOO HOO! It is a dish drainer quilt and microwave bowl potholder like the ones I made for MaryJane last year. They are in her new line of MJF fabrics.

Hay there,

Hug your Moms for me.

I have completed one of my UFO......which was actually becoming an issue with me.
Does that mean I get a smiley face by my name on page 1 ?? My UFO was to empty my chairs and keep them empty ... so they can be sat in !!! I had 2 with quilt pieces on them and one with mending on it. Who could sit down anywhere? Except the sewing chair..and that's my seat!! But its done and I was so thrilled that I went thru the other rooms in my home and did the same thing to chairs/seats in them. I feel ready to tackle one of the quilts!!

Hugs and prayers, Daizy #1093

Yay for you, Daizy! I have to empty my chairs every time we hear someone drive in! I call it my "panic run".

Sara, someone on here mentioned they try to complete a "hoop" of embroidery when they sit down to work on a project. The project I am working was overwhelming to me although its just a pillow top. I kept picturing the entire thing finished. Now, when I sit down I just work on a hoop an evening. Its much easier to focus on and much more satisfying at the end of the evening. There is an end in sight! Oh, no! There is another pillow cover to the set! Yikes!
