How are ya'll today?? It's been chilly here and PERFECT! We have had fire's in the fireplace, candles and yummy comfort food. It's got me in the mood, I have made my list, cleaned up my craft room and getting started on gifts. I am glad I am back in the mood to be in my craft room, it's been a while. With that stint in working full time I found no time for my craft room. Today I just got off work from my part time job and I am cleaning out the fireplace to start another fire and light some candles and have some lunch. Dinner is going to be roast, taters and carrots. I need to start some laundry and dishes. Girls will be in the barn this evening hangin out with their pigs. Not much else goin on. hugs

Mmmmmmm - sounds like a similar day here - cold, bright, fire-in-the-woodstove kinds of days. Isn't it great to do something you enjoy? Glad that you're back in the craft room. I'm catching up on some projects - some of which have been haunting me for MONTHS - and by boys are taking their naps. What a nice day - The animals are all calm and doing well - and I'm making artichoke-heart/saffron pasta with homegrown onions in it for dinner tonight.

XOXO, Libbie

It's gray and snowy here. Not much on the ground yet! I stayed home with my daughter...asthma :( She hadn't had an attack in over 3 years and it just came on pretty hard this weekend. So a trip to the doctor this morning, new meds, and a day at home to do extra neb treatments. She's 14, so she says she feels well and can't stand just "resting". We made lunch and watched some of the first season of Little House on the Prairie on dvd. I thought I'd sew some, but I just wasn't in the mood today. Just kinds lounged with her on the couch! Speghetti and meatballs tonight! (Libbie's dinner sounds better though)

Well, I am catching up on all the farm girl news I missed while the site was down and i was gone. My DH made me breakfast this morning, what a sweetie hunk!
I also have a fire in the woodstove. I just ate a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup, and I think at some point I will go into town and run a few errands. I also need to finish my cards for the card exchange so I can get them mailed out. One boy is at school and the other is home watchin Peter Pan. Other than that, I am just hanging out today.

Bright, sunny, COLD day. I'm enjoying our fire and feeding my 2 1/2 yr old and 2 month old tetrazzini and breastmilk respectively. Both are chowing down.

I'm getting our Christmas picture outfits sewn and trying to figure out how we're going to get pics taken and back in time. When my littles go down for naps in an hour or so, I'll make a kefir shake and take 30 minutes to read my current book-Banker to the Poor. Love it so far.

Lasagna for dinner tonight!

Cold and sunny here today..the sun is going down now so it is even colder. I doubt it got above 25 all day. Not a cloud in the sky though.
I subbed for a 2nd grade teacher today..a really fun little class. I have subbed in that class before so it was fun to work with them again. After school I got youngest son to cubscouts, youngest daughter to the library, ran some errands to the post office, phone company and bank and then got home and did a little straightening things up with the kids. We are having tamales and chili and green salad for supper and then I will go out and milk Mona and then we will be decorating the Christmas tree, all the stuff is out all over the living room...yikes! usually it is the cleanest room in the house..but not today. I will be subbing the next two days at the school too..in Kindergarten..makes for a busy week..but the extra money will be nice for sure.

Today I say "goodbye" to my cat Squeakers of 11 years. We found out she had cancer a few months ago and this past Sunday she couldnt walk anymore. So we put her in the wash basket with a hot water bottle and some fleece blanket and tried to make her comfortable. On the way to the vet this morning she died. The only funny thing about it - I was talking her and saying I know you hate car rides but this is the last one- and I told her to find her other animal friends that died b4 her and my mom and she died then.

Sorry to bum everyone out -

Today I recuperated from the wildfire that blew through our area all day Sunday. Most of it is out now, just a lot of hotspots to put out. We're fine, more wind damage than fire, except for the ashes and the smell. Winds were mild today, thank God.

High winds and idiots with matches. Not a good combo.

Oh Jennifer!! I knew Moorpark sounded familiar when I heard it on the news!! I am glad to hear you are okay!! Those Santa Anna winds can be brutal too..but wow! From what I saw on the news you were so lucky to not have fire damage!! I bet you are just mentally exhausted..I know I would be!! I am so glad you checked in !!!

Thank you for your concern Jenny,

I didn't get to see much of the national news, but the firsthand display was amazing. You're right I was exhausted. I don't know what's more tiring standing by to help evacuate animals and friends or actually doing it. I wasn't fearful of the fire coming to us - we live on the south side of the highway and there is a big Edison substation across the street from the enterance to our street with 10 acres of gravel and blacktop so the fire burns around the perimeter. What we have to watch out for is the embers and ashes blowing down our street and catching leaves and trees on fire. But, all is well.

Some of the winds were clocked at 92mph. I'm sure we got 75 at least. Strong enough to blow over all of my 8' rose arbors and a 3' statue. I'll wait until the weekend to put things back together.
