Denise- Oh my gosh! You are so right! I have finally caught on and now it all makes sense. I love it! I am so looking forward to the weekend so I will have time to sit down and do some more! Good luck on the knitting.
Thank you Kristine, Judith, and Justine.
I feel better now that my friend has shown me how. I am so proud of my crocheting! I can’t wait to finish my project!
P.S. This is a brand new one. I started over because I was doing a single crochet in the picture above and needed to be doing a double crochet.

Denise - it depends on how many people apply for them at that given time... sometimes they get backed up. My last ones came back in about a week, but I have had others take around a month.
Krista - slowly, hahahahaha

Denise, I agree with Shannon on her reply to your question. I suggest that, if you haven't heard anything after two weeks, you send Brian and email and check in with him. His email is: brianogle@maryjanesfarm.org
They DO get pretty busy with everything going on at the farm and Brian wears a lot of hats there! Hope that helps! CJ

I hope this is not a duplicated query, as I did not read thru all the previous pages. Now that I have earned a few badges, I wondered how everyone has displayed theirs. Would love to see or hear how you decorated them and then displayed them to give me some inspiration.

Denise- It's coming along. I started over because I realized I was doing the wrong pattern. ( But I am saving the other one to make a washcloth.) With the new pattern I seem to be moving faster. But my edges don't seem to be straight. I asked my friend if that was normal and she said yes. She said it has to do with how tight I am making my stitches. Hearing that I felt like starting over again, but I talked myself out of it. I can't be so hard on myself, I am just learning. I will just make sure to focus a bit more on my tightness from here on out. Have any of you had this? Or does it still happen to you?
Oh I hear you Shannon! To many things to do in a day and not enough time.
Joan- That is a good question. I am working on my first one now and would like to know what to do with mine.

Thanks Shannon and Ceejay! It helps to get an idea. That way I'm not always wondering if there is something wrong if I didn't hear something right away. Just another thing I appreciate here is if you ask a question there is always someone who can answer it!

Krista, It took me a lot of practice to get my stitches from not being so tight all the time. My mom taught my brother and I when we were younger. We are both left handed and she was right handed so she had us sit across from her so we could follow the way she was holding the hook and the yarn. I haven't been crocheting for a while as I am trying to learn knitting. I was talking to my dh and told him that since I have been looking into the badges I realized how many things I can do or have already done on the list of requirements. I need to get everything in order (photos) and organized so it will be easier to keep track and apply for them.

Ceejay I was looking at your blog and saw a photo of some of your badges....looked like you had embroidered them. Hard to tell, but looked very cute. Also love your string of glamper lights you made. Any change you can share how you made them. What a talented group here! Thanks for all the inspiration you share.
Krista You have encouraged me to try crocheting again. I always have the stitches so tight that I could not get the hook through the next row and gave up. Have a great pattern book with granny squares. Need to give it another try.

A close up of a couple badges. I use buttons to show that I've earned the different levels. Three buttons means I've earned all three levels. The buttons are sometimes different colors or different shapes, but sometimes I use the same shape/color. I also use novelty buttons if I have some small enough and the appropriate theme. I also sometimes embellish the badge with some little item, such as the little bow on the Apron badge. It's just how I do mine . . . Thanks for letting me share! CJ

Denise, that is what I was thinking. I had a feeling it would take some time to get it right. That is why we practice. How is your knitting coming along? That is so awesome! I hope you are able to apply for a bunch of badges. Let us know what you have done.
Aww thanks Joan! I am so happy to hear that. That was my problem too. I was making my stitches so tight that the hook wouldn’t move. Once the stiches are loose it’s a completely different feeling. It’s so much smoother and I feel like I can work faster. Let me know when you try again! I know you can get it!
CJ, your badges look fantastic! I love how you choose to display them! The buttons are a great idea. Way to go.

I was amused by the different sized writing I used on those two in the last pic. I finished the Aprons badge a long time ago,one of the very first ones I did and the writing is much smaller! Paper Quilling is one I just recently finished and the writing is much larger. Hmmmmmmm . . . CJ

Thanks for sharing Ceejay. I like the button idea to show the different levels you've accomplished and pinking shear the edges.

I trace the badge designs onto natural colored super muslin I get from Walmart and then, after embroidering but before sewing on buttons, I use Wunder-Under and iron on a piece of fabric, sometimes it's super muslin, sometimes, lighter weight fabric but I use natural/ecru/ivory colored fabric. That way the back of the badge is covered and stitch ends protected. CJ
