I know Heather! It’s so sad. My hype for Harry Potter didn’t start until much later. I had no desire to read the books and then a friend dragged me to the movie and I was hooked lol!

I’m so sorry Hilary. I agree with Heather! You are doing enough.

I applied for 4 badges over the weekend! I’m so glad I got them turned in. Now I’m ready to start working on some others.

I need to get cracking, and look at them and see what I will do. I am having some surgery the second week of November so I will be laid up for awhile and have the time to do one at least.

I'm looking for some ideas for the Basketry badge. I really want to start this. Anyone have some good web sites or book recommendations?

Oh no Heather! Hopefully you get some extra time school.

Marie, that badge looks so fun. I was just recently looking at some of the books and pens I would be needing for that badge. I would love to to work on that one soon.

Andrea, I don’t know of any websites or books but hopefully someone else can help you out.

I have been working on some badges, but I haven't had the time to sit done and apply for the ones that I've earned. I have been so busy getting ready for the holidays! This year I decided to catch-up on the family Christmas stockings. . .I have gotten quite a bit behind and they take about 50 hours to complete. They are needlepoint, sewing, and embroidery pieces. I completed 9 and am working on #10 (only 15 more to go!). I plan to relax a bit in January so that I will be able to apply for my earnings. So glad to be a farmgirl! Love staying busy!

Wow Nancy! That is amazing! You sure have been super busy. I have always wanted to try one of those stockings. It's on my future to do list lol.

Dianna, I know exactly what you mean. That happened to me this year too. Congratulations on finishing your badges.

It is a new year with high hopes of completing more badges! I need to figure out where I want to start.

Random question... How are merit badges selected? I mean new ones, that is. Can suggestions be made? I think it would be incredibly fun to earn a badge devoted to the art of tea drinking. I can't possibly be the only person to think that would be amazing!

Tea drinking….what a fun idea! So many possibilities….you could grow your own teas, have a fancy tea, study the history, etc.
I always thought a pie badge could be fun. Making different kinds of pie crusts, sweet and/or savory pies, etc.

I was thinking it could be really fun and it seems like most of the ladies I've met through here already enjoy tea. I was thinking for beginners just learning the different kinds and history, proper prep methods, stuff like that. Then progress to trying different teas and keeping a tea journal, the advanced could be learning about formal tea and hosting one with friends or even by yourself. So many possibilities, I thought!

Pie making is also a great idea. I would be interested in that as well!

I love both of those ideas, especially tea. I have a tea plant growing, but haven't harvested yet and drink assorted teas all day long.

Oh - a tea merit badge sounds like so much fun!

I have had merit badges on my list for so long now - I've set a goal of 12 in 2023 and I have decided the Lost Art of Letter Writing is going to be my first one.

I am also planning on swinging back into badge earning this year. Last year everything just got kind of got lost in the shuffle of life and I feel like I missed out on so much. I am using the New Year as an excuse to regroup and refocus on things I enjoy. The letter writing badge is also going to be my starting point. So cheers to a New Year and may we all see our goals reached!

Hannah, MaryJane takes suggestions for new merit badges throughout the year and then will make selections for the new year. I do like your idea of a tea merit badge. I know that I could branch out and try a few new flavors.

Debbie, I also like your pie idea. Especially since I made my very first pie in November!

Laura, that is so funny. I just got done making me a list of merit badges I want to work on this year and also made a goal of 12. I hope to complete at least one badge per month this year. If I can get more done then I will be super excited. The Lost Art of Letter Writing is also on my list. Another big one I plan to work on is my UFO badge and I would also love to try the quilling badge.
