I want to work on my dyeing badge, but won't realistically have time this month. Good luck finding people to teach crochet. I've counted my 4-H members when considering people that I've taught. Does your niece have a couple of friends who would like to learn to?

Jill, that's a good idea. I'll ask her! Hopefully you can work on your dyeing badge soon. The holidays make things a little crazy.

Hi everyone! I just submitted my first merit badge application and am excited to keep going! I had no idea this was available- so many of the merit badge topics are things I have been doing for years!
I decided to start with some of those things, which will also motivate to accomplish some of the projects that have been waiting for me to get moving!

I wish I could order a merit badge book of topics/ goals so I can use it for the work. Printing is expensive for me!

Sue, that is awesome! Which badge did you complete? Good luck with all your other badges and projects you plan to accomplish!

Vicki, that is a good idea! Maybe have some check off lists as you complete each part of the goal! And a place to take notes! Great idea!

Thank you Vicki for your Merit Badge binder book idea. We might be able to pull it off. It would be a fun project for us for sure.

If we think we can swing it, watch for its launch in our January Sister Issue that will arrive in your email box January 1, 2020 with a link to the binder for sale over in our Sisterhood Supplies on our main website.

P.S. In the back of the binder we'd also include a Merit Badge Goals Calendar--good way to start the new year.

I also love the idea of a binder for Merit Badges. I have created one with the badges that I want to work on and the certificates of the ones I've got. But I'd love one with check lists and goal setting calendars etc. What a great idea!

I was mistaken about number of badges I earned - it's 5. The 5th was for making an apron. The next badge for aprons is to make one with ruffles. I had borrowed my sisters sewing machine to make the first apron but it is now packed away for her up-coming move to Paris. I do have another apron I made when I had her machine. I made it for our first Apple Festival. It's plain with a large appliqued apple on the bib so I will add ruffle at hem to match the apple. Also will add a pocket with appliqued apple. I am now pinning my bib aprons that have straps so I will take off the straps and make yo-yos out of apple fabric and sew to the safety pins. I hope this apron will be enough to earn me the badge. It's been five years in the making.

Jill so good to hear from you. It's been a long time. I think of you every time I walk past my sheep picture made with the wool yarn you gifted me.

Thanks Sara! I haven't been on for quite a while, life has been a bit on the crazy side. A close relative passed away just before Christmas and that has entailed a lot of paperwork and sorting out belongings. All my regular tasks got way behind. I am just now feeling that I can get back to participating here. :)

Congratulations Sue. I have really just begun working on the badges. It has helped me with sanity during some the long days. I have missed my kids at school. What badge will you be working on next? I am working on the Readin' "ritin' and 'Rythmatic now.

Thanks Krista. I ordered a book today for beginner Ink Slinger under Stitching & Crafting. Looks like I will be working on several badges as I go along.

Today while workmen repaired the wall Annie damaged; installed a ceiling fan, and new light fixture in the kitchen I hid out on my laptop. Hadn't intended to write a short story today, but I did. It's for the beginner part of Ink Slinger merit badge. I'm pleased with the story. The grammar book I ordered arrived today so tomorrow I will use it to help edit the story. After editing it I will have a friend or sister edit it again. Embarrassed to say grammar I'm weak in grammar and need all the help I can get.

Hi Krista,
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. I think I am finally on book number nine. I thought the poetry would be difficult. But, then I ask our librarian and she lead me to a cute one full of Haiku about dogs.
I need to go inside now and put the last row on a dishcloth I am making for a swap and the crochet badge.
But fist, check for mail from my students.
Hugs
Terri

P.S. What are you working on now?

Wow Teri, you are doing awesome! I am terrible with reading books. There are so many I want to read but never find the time. I made a New Years resolution to read the 5th Harry Potter book but still haven’t started it. Now it’s June. I better get going. Right now I am not working on a badge. I’m trying to make it through this covid stuff first. Being stuck home with all 3 of my littles with no outings has made them crazy and in turn me crazy lol once we get all our emotions back on track I will re-evaluate what I want to work on. I’m hoping to get the binder ordered shortly. That will be a good starting point for me.

Sara, I have never looked at the Ink Slinger badge, that looks really interesting. So does the Reading, 'riting and 'rhythmatic. I like the idea of both of those. The Reading one would be good for me as I pretty much always read fiction, dip into non-fiction books to look something up, but never read the whole thing, and avoid poetry because I hated it in school. I'm sure somewhere there must be poetry that I would enjoy. I always enjoyed reading poetry to my kids (but then it rhymed). ;)

Jill, I found the Ink Slinger badge interesting. If you decide to work on it let us know.

I haven't looked into the Reading, 'riting and 'rhythmatic badge. If I decide to go for it I'll read cowboy poetry. I really like cowboy poetry. Re-reading Poe might be a choice too.

Jill, I love reading kids rhyming poetry too! It tends to flow better for me. One of my high school classes required us to have a large poetry book that we would read in class. I know I still have it. Just not sure where. If I ever come across it I’ll let you know the title of the book. It was be an easier one to use.
