Denise, I feel the same way! Time is flying by way to fast and he is growing way to much. He is already 13 pounds and fitting in his 6 month clothes. I am really enjoying every moment! It's one of the greatest blessings ever!

Krista,
Enjoy the little guy in every way along the way! My nephew and his wife had a baby boy last week on the 24th. His birthday was 9 lbs. 1 oz . . . big guy! I don't know what his 1-week old weight is.
Have fun!

CJ, that is a big guy! Congratulations on the new member to the family. Mine was 8 lbs. 14 oz. so not to far off from his. At his two month appointment the doctor said he wasn't gaining as much weight as he should. His weight curve dropped from the 90th percentile to the 50 percentile. So when he eats I tell him we are trying to bulk up! I have a few pounds I'm willing to share!

Have any of you ever made amigurumi crochet toys? Like the animals such as elephants, bunnies, or owls? If so, how difficult are they to make? Did you like making them? Would other fellow farmgirls enjoy receiving these?

I make Amigurumi and love it, let me see if I can find pics of recent stuff to post! I personally don't feel like it is difficult at all. I do believe farmgirl sisters would like them. I sent one a baby chick in an egg for one of the swaps!

These are things I made for Christmas or Daniel's bday. I've done other animals like what you are talking about (I think hubby still has a turtle I made on his desk) and I've done food. I just don't have pics handy. This is one of my favorite things to crochet!!

Those are so cute! I bet the chick in the egg was adorable.
I agree with Kate. Enjoy every minute you can. My son is 28 and I have to say I did take the time to enjoy everything with him. He has a great temperament so it was easy.

I make all kinds of amigurumi. I recommend the following books for patterns: Creepy Cute and Crobots. I have seen other books and will be getting them.

Here are some pictures:

I made these for a wedding present.

I made this for a swap.

If you can single crochet and do it in a round, this is easy to do. I like to add the little felt, hardware and embroidery to them to give them personality.

Those are so cute Sabrina and Maria! That is why I was asking. I was considering making one for my swap partner but I wanted to make sure I could make them and others would like them. You make them look so easy. Sabrina, do you follow a pattern? I really like your dino. What size hook do you use for your toys? I can single crochet but I’m not sure how to do it in a round. That will be my first step then. Thanks for sharing with me.

Lion Brand has many amigurumi patterns of all kinds. I have a wonderful book from which I can create sea creatures, mollusks and corals. Mathematicians use crochet to visually represent multidimensional surfaces.

Here is my completed diaper cover. It's just missing a button. I plan to start the matching hat today! I'm getting excited to complete my first set!

Thank you, Marie. I will look at see if I can find one for an elephant. That is what I am wanting me make my son. If I can master that then I will attempt to make some extras for swaps.

Thank you, Denise.

That looks great Krista!

I use patterns-although I am working on writing a pattern of my own, the star doll above I made up-I'm still fine tuning the pattern. I use whatever hook size the pattern calls for, usually E or F, but the dino was a bigger, I'd have to look up which hook I used but I wish I'd used one size smaller than what she said. The dino is from a book Anamami (sp?) Puzzle Balls. But she has a website with some free patterns and some other puzzle ball patterns on her etsy store. Here is her site with some free patterns: http://www.lookatwhatimade.net/crafts/yarn/crochet/free-crochet-patterns/crochet-amish-puzzle-ball/

If you search amigurumi on ravelry you will find tons.

Sabrina, I checked out that website and that ball looks like so much fun. I also seen a picture for an elephant with that design. I am going to see if I can find that book. I would really love to make some. It's getting so hard. I keep finding all these things I want to make. I better start making a list to remember and find more hours in a day to do them all!
