We've been married for 10.5 years, but we've never owned a home and have always been renting. We put an offer on a house in Port Orchard, Washington yesterday and I'm SO nervous! We're competing with another buyer, but I'm hoping and praying that our offer is accepted!

The house is a rambler, 3 bedroom, 2 bath house on 1/4 acre with a ton of fruit trees and flowers. It was built in 1923, the outside is done in cedar planking painted light blue, and the inside has been restored to a "vintage" state. The kitchen walls are pale yellow bead board, the cabinets are vintage and painted pale green, and there is an antique farmhouse sink. One of the two bathrooms is bead board and vintage rose wallpaper. Each of the doors in the house is an old exterior door that has been redone. It also has a detached two car garage with a garden workshop. It's just a gorgeous house and I'm sooooooo hopeful that the elderly woman who lives there will choose our offer over the other person's. I need this house!!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Rachel. I hope you get it. I'm in a 113 year old farmhouse and I love it!

We got the house!!!!! Our closing is 7 weeks from today, giving the owner time to pack up and move to CA and giving us time for my stocks to vest, which is where our down payment is coming from. We spent the weekend driving around Port Orchard to familiarize ourselves with this adorable maritime town (and the actual setting for the Hallmark TV show "Cedar Cove.") We also looked at paint chips, since the master bedroom/bath and the living room needs painting.

The home inspection should be Friday, and I can't wait to get back in there and take some pictures. Until then, here a few pictures that were taken from the realtor website and exterior photos I took over the weekend.

Hooray Rachel! I have my finger crossed the inspection goes well. I love your new home. So much character in it. Something that is really lacking in so many modern homes. The decorating possibilities are endless here. Have fun, many blessings in your new home!

Now that I see the back porch and garage--you so scored in the cuteness factor and it's so lovely. Thank God you got the house. It is so beautiful and you'll love living in that area. So happy for you!
