I am wanting to add more perennial vegetables to my garden. Artichokes keep coming up as I dream in my seed catalogs. However, I wonder how well they will do in our Zone 3 high altitude. Anyone have experience with them at the higher altitude area?

I am also considering Jerusalem Artichokes and Asparagus. Any other ideas?

Seems like you put the question out into the universe and the answer comes. Here is an article about this subject that I saw today on Facebook. Ask and Ye shall receive!

They say I am a 5b. We get colder in winter and stay cooler in summer. Because of are exposure and amount of trees.

My daughter grew them in Zone 4a (Spokane, WA.0,,, at the end of the season she cut them down to ground level and mulched them over the winter.. and they came back.
I have grown them in SO. Calif., zone 8, and yes, they attract these lil bugs and ants.... Each year I would cut them back, and each year the 'chokes' got smaller... by the 4th year I let them 'flower'.
