FINALLY...we have a cost and we can begin to order the cookbooks. I have seen the digital proof and will have a book in my hands by Thursday. Then it will be printed and hopefully be in the mail by late next week!! I have a work party ready to wrap and tape! Because time is short before Christmas, I will mail off copies before receiving your money. I am trusting you all...and so is my VISA!!
The cookbook cost is $9.01 each.
Now comes the fun (frustrating) part. Canada Post has a fuel surcharge depending on where the book is sent to, ie. it is cheaper to send to Washington state from here than it is to Florida. So...you are all going to have to figure out your postage costs (sorry about that). Log on to www.canadapost.ca and click on "Rates" on the left side of your screen.
Here's the info you need: The originating postal code will be V9C 4C1 (where the book is being sent "from"). The weight of EACH book is .267 kilograms. So double or triple this depending on how many copies you want (get out the calculators). The dimensions are 9" x 6" x .5" PER book (this you can enter in imperial measurements). So if you want two, the package dimension will be 9" x 6" x 1". Click submit and you will be given your options/costs of how you want your book(s) shipped.
Email me for my mailing address and to submit your order. Don't forget to let me know how you want your book(s) shipped, ie. surface, air, expedited, xpress.
You can send me a cheque/check or money order or whatever is easiest for you. Regretably I don't have paypal. Also, you can most definitely submit in Canadian funds which will help a little.
If you have any questions or problems, please email me.
Diane

Diane - I sent you an email. Thanks a million! I can't remember which type of m/o is best for you. Just let me know - we have an international market in my neighborhood, and I think the type of m/o they have is what I've bought for an ebay purchase in Canada.

The $9.01 is Canadian Tasha.
As for money orders...hmm...I am so out of the loop here. I thought a money order was a money order.
Can anybody answer this question?? Boy I feel dumb!

I cannot email you from this site due to a cookie problem with my computer. I want cookbooks (5). What to do?

So how much does $9.01 (Can) equal in U.S. dollars? I'm confused.

I found in doing the calculating thing that if they are mailed separately it is cheaper...for 2 books to be mailed surface to me it is $9.90 for postage, but if I have each one sent separate it will be $3.96 each..cuz they qualify for something called "light packet". Hmmmm I am emailing you..

Diane, I've emailed you. I also found an exchange rate page--and would ask you to check it out to make sure this is accurate as far as you can tell. http://coinmill.com/CAD_USD.html
For my 4 books, the Canadian is 52.56 CAD, which is books + postage. The U.S. is $46.38. Sound right to you?
A big hug, Ann

jp I emailed you...let me know if it worked.
Tasha - I ordered a few extra to make the overall price lower (minimum order) and also for anybody that might have got missed or for new farmgirls. So feel free to order extra.
Aunt Jenny, et al...I will mail each separately if it makes it cheaper for you. I have no problem with doing that at all. Just let me know. I did re-calculate though and it tells me $5.98 for surface to you. Could you please re-check in case I'm messing up somehow. Make sure you type in .267 and check kilograms, not pounds.
Cheques/checks can be written out: Five dollars Canadian funds and where you write the number part... $5.00Cnd. When you purchase money orders, they should be able to do the exchange rate for you.
Ann - I'm not sure what the exchange rate is at the moment, but I think that sounds about right.
I think that covers the questions so far...don't hestitate to ask if you have more. Di

Gals!! Gals!!
When you enter the weight, MAKE SURE you enter .267 and click on KILOGRAMS!! That is why you are getting light packet rates which unfortunately don't apply.

Oh it's okay, but thanks for the kind thoughts everyone. I just wish it didn't have to be so darn confusing with the metric conversion and crazy postal rates and currency exchange. Oh well, we are farmgirls and we'll get this right through sheer determination! Di |

Diane -
I think I did this right, for seven copies from your postal zip code to my state of Virginia: from www.canadapost.ca
The following shows the rate(s) for a parcel of 9.00inch x 6.00inch x 4.5 inch weighing 1.869kg Expedited Parcel USA (10 to 11 business days) Base Price $16.85 Delivery confirmation Included Fuel surcharge $1.05 Coverage Included Total $17.90
Does this look right? Dividing by seven copies, shipping of $2.56 per copy is not so bad!
I wil recalculate for accuracy and havew made sure that I had indeed ordered seven copies so I will get payment out to you asap.
Thanks again for ALL of your hard work - FarmGirl points to you!

Diane, I guess you didn't see my high school math grades. That is probably just as well. Anyway how about I send you a check for 16 dollars and that should cover it, any extra you keep, need more I'll send it. This is for one book. NANCY JO

Diane,
If my own math is right (let me know) I will be happy to help the other farmgirls figure out their costs...

Jo, Nancy and Julia - I have emailed you.
Jo - your calculations were correct, except 7 books would be 3.5" thickness (which didn't make a difference anyway. Feel free to help!
If any of you are really confused, don't hesitate to email me. I realize it is confusing, but other than posting three different rates for fifty states multiplied by "x" number of books (lordy my head hurts..haha), I can't think of an easier way to do this. PLEASE email me or Jo if you are confused. I'm more than willing to help. Di
