I have terrible skin. Cross between Norwegian mortuary white, sensitive, thin tissue and Ukrainian gypsy yellow, large pore, oily hide.

I had a wonderful Patricia Wexler acne exfoliating cleanser, very fine bead that took off just the right amount every day. It's been discontinued.

I would like to find something I can make forever by myself at home. During the summer, I can use some sugar with whatever cleanser I want and be fine.

Now, it's too much. The Norwegian is dry and flaky while the Ukrainian is still producing oil.

Anyone have any natural recipes for a cleanser that has a slight exfoliating component?

Have you ever heard of Lemongrass Spa? I just discovered it and joined as a consultant as they truly are a natural, homegrown business. Anyway if you'd rather make your own product you could use sugar with grapeseed or sesame oil. Sugar will break down as you scrub whereas the salt takes longer. You may know this already but when you use an oil make sure its 100% pure :) If you use olive oil it's heavier whereas the grapeseed and sesame are lighter and will absorb quicker but not leave a heavy feeling afterward. If you are oily and flaky, I'd probably go with the grapeseed or sesame and use it at night before bedtime that way if it is heavy feeling on your skin it will soak in overnight :) Hope that helps :)

This is my favorite DIY energizing coffee body scrub. I actually posted this on my blog last week because it is that time of the year when my skin is brutally dried. http://www.thegoodlifegirl.com/2015/01/naturally-nourish-your-skin-energizing.html

I gently wash my face, then wipe lemon juice on it (away from eyes), leaving it on for about 5- 10 minutes. Then I mix some baking soda, peroxide and a dash of oil (olive or sunflower or sweet almond) stir it well (it will foam a little) then rub it all over my face (staying away from your eyes). Rub gently for a bit and rinse with cold water.

Every other week you could add plain yogurt.

Bart, Interesting recipe. What does this do for your face? I mean, for what skin condition? I would tend to do the reverse of your regime. I would think the lemon would be an astringent, but heck, what do I know? I do want to use more natural remedies but when it comes to herbs etc. am so lacking in knowledge!

I use the lemon to exfoliate, clean and even out skin tone.
I use the baking soda and peroxide to cleanse and the oil replenishes natural oils.
I have balance facial skin - very slightly on the dryer side, no acne or blemishes

Sorry, I should've said this in my post.
